Thomas Beechler writes, “The mystery house looks like the old Steele Mansion. As I recall it was once ravaged by fire.”
Several other folks were a little lost on that 500 block of E. Higham. They may have better luck this week.
The definitive answer came to us from Maralyn Fink Woodbury:
“This home is located at 507 E. Walker St. This was at one time owned by G. Glenn and Blanche Steel. My aunt, Lorraine Halfmann, was their maid for years. After their passing, the house was left to my aunt. The home had a fire in 1948.
“I spent many times at the home, remember always watching “The Christmas Carol” every year on their black and white TV. My family were very close to the Steels and spent a lot of Holidays there. My graduation party was held there. A lot of great memories.”
