Looking back at the original bandshell
Now that we are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Performance Shell at the St. Johns City Park, people are thinking back on the original bandshell.
Floyd Patterson is one of the men in the old photo showing the framework of the bandshell going up in 1939. The other men in the photo are Carl Krumm and Nelson Jolly.

Sandra L. Wagar via Facebook says, “RG Becker, EO Hyler and Willis Hettler helped move it so the tennis courts could be seen and more people could listen in 1958.”

January, 2001: Site plan was one of the first steps in development of performance area at city park.
Along with Pilmore, other committee members included Bill Tennant, representing St. Johns Public Schools; St. Johns City Recreation Director Bill Schafer; Cooperative Extension Service Director Dave Ivan; and community members Guven Witteveen, Ron Huard, Ranny Briggs, and Lora Thom.

At the end of its service to the community the old bandshell was moved to Crosby’s mint farm.
