Darlene D. Stevens
Darlene D. Stevens died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the age of 55, after a six year battle with breast cancer. She was born November 4, 1955 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Donald and Wauneta (Stewart) Stevens. Darlene was a graduate of St. Johns High School, Class of 1974 and enjoyed fishing, knitting, crocheting and gardening.
Surviving is one sister, Marsha Stevens of St. Johns; one brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Pat Eckert of Lakeview, MI; niece, Kimberly (David) Hanvey of St. Johns; nephew Steven Eckert of Raleigh, NC; great nephew, Anthony Hanvey; three aunts, Lila Stevens of Lake Odessa, Peggy Stewart and Winifred Stewart both of Maple Rapids and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 17, 2011 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to breast cancer research.


Laurina A. Thelen
Laurina A. Thelen passed away October 13, 2011, at the age of 92. Born in Fowler on January 22, 1919, the daughter of Ferdinand and Caroline (Weber) Geller. She was a homemaker, a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Christian Womens Association. Laurina married Edwin J. Thelen on October 14, 1939 and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2002.
Laurina is survived by four sons, Roger (Carolyn) Thelen of Sultan, Washington, Roy Thelen of Fowler, Jon (Sally) Thelen of Fowler, and Neal (Pam) Thelen of Dewitt, one sister, Viola (Joe) Minarik, 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, sister in law, Jeanine Cook, and brother in law, Richard (Alberta) Thelen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Thelen, her parents, four sisters, Marie Hufnagel, Rosaline Theis, Bernida Fedewa, Lillian Kobel, and two brothers, Jerome and Roman Geller.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2011 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial at Holy Trinity Cemetery with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sparrow Clinton Hospice, or Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The family was served by The Osgood Funeral Homes.
