Harold K. Goodrich

Harold K. Goodrich, passed away November 1, 2011, at the age of 78. He was born on February 26, 1933, in Ovid, Michigan, the son of Lewis and Helena (Louth) Goodrich. Harold married Roberta Grey on January 29, 1955 in Angola, Indiana and she survives him. Harold was a Master Electrician for Johnson Controls, a longtime member of Masonic Lodge #105, a Shriner, a member of their Jesters and Model A Club.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tamara Goodrich; his sons, Dean (Marissa), Doug and Todd (Joann) Goodrich; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Harold is also survived by his sisters, Betty Morden, Sarah (Ron) Woodruff; brother Paul (Dee) Goodrich and sister-in-law, Thelma Goodrich. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lewis Goodrich, Jr. sister-in-law, Bonnie Goodrich and brother-in-law, Virgil Morden.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011, in Ovid at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, with Pastor Dickenson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening, November 4th. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorial contributions to the Ovid Little League or the Ovid Historical Society.

Caroline Mueller
Caroline Mueller, age 81, passed away on October 31, 2011 at home in St. Johns, Michigan. Carol was born in St. Johns, MI on December 11, 1929, the daughter of the late Allie and Leona Pohl (Hoppes). She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns and a Sealed Power (Mahle) 33 year retiree. Before that she worked in various restaurants owned by her family. Carol married Floyd J. Salters (deceased), Richard Vorase and Charlie Mueller throughout her years.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Cathy Brya-Rotta (Chris) of Canton, MI, Peggy Proctor (Jary) of Elsie, MI, Kim Rolfe and son, Richard Vorase of St. Johns. Another son, Jerome Salters preceded her in death. Eight grandchildren (1 deceased, Richie Vorase), 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Two sisters, Jeanette Powers of St. Johns, Dorothy Bertram (Michael) of Fowler, two brothers, Ronald Pohl (Eloise) of Houghton Lake, Pat Pohl (Gaye) of Paonia, CO survive her. Two brothers, Norman Pohl, Michael Pohl (Bonnie) and 2 sisters, Kate Prowant, and Betty Hale (Truman) preceded her in death. Many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service and dinner will be 1:00 to 4:00 on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the UAW Hall at 117 W. Walker St., St. Johns, MI 48879. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed with memorials to the McLaren or Eaton Community Hospice House, caregivers Nicole and Kara or any Hospice of your choice (envelopes will be available). The family was served by the Swanson Crematory of Flint, MI, with interment at Mt. Rest Cemetery.


Louis Edward Thom
Louis Edward Thom, age 86, passed away October 27, 2011 in Grand Ledge, MI. He was born January 16, 1925 in Moorehead, Minnesota to the late Louis S. and Mary D. (Pearson) Thom. He served in the U.S. Army, and attended and graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a master plumber, was self-employed for many years, and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He was an avid horticulturist and stamp collector.
Louis is survived by his loving family: wife of 64 years, Ione; children, Paul (Julie) Thom, Paula Busby, Chad (Debra) Thom, Mark (Tina) Andrews, Lou Ann Thom, Kevin (Linda) Thom, Mary Kabia, Kara Kabia, Louis Thom Jr., Lora Thom, Ann (Paul) Leifker, and Rose Leifker, daughter-in-law Brenda Thom, 26 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, sister Mary Johnson. He is preceded in death by son Gregory, brothers William, Joseph, and George Thom.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, October 31, 2011, 11:00am at Saint Michael Catholic Church, Grand Ledge by Reverend Fr. James Eisele. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 2-4, 6-8pm at Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home Grand Ledge, Vigil 7:30pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Capital Area Region 5303 S. Cedar St. Bldg. 1 Lansing, MI 48911.
