Charles William Sackrider
Charles William “Charlie” Sackrider, age 73, of Lake, MI died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Hospice of Lansing Residence.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel, 2057 N. Lansing St., St. Johns, MI on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Deacon Marvin Robertson will officiate and burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 and 6-8 PM. at the funeral home.
Charles was born in St. Johns, Michigan on June 15, 1938, the son of Vernon and Rita M. (Werner) Sackrider. He retired from General Motors in 1993 after 24 years of service. Charlie was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his loving companion Ann Baker of Lake, MI, daughter Kathy Brace and companion Dave of Nashville, MI, son Kevin Sackrider and companion Crystal of Holt, MI, daughter Valorie Sackrider and companion John of East Lansing, MI, son Terry and Sandy Sackrider of Lansing, MI, daughter Zina and Tim Pettit of Howell, MI, son Lyndon Sackrider of Lansing, MI, daughter Fonda Sackrider of Vermontville, MI, 21 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brother Arthur and Gerri Sackrider of Cary, IL, and 2 sisters; Nancy and Thomas Hufnagel of Eureka, MI, and Marlene and Greg Freelan of Fowlerville, MI. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his son Gene Allen Sackrider, grandson Brandon William Sackrider and sister Shirley Trier.

Georgia J. Motz
Georgia J. Motz died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the age of 86. She was born June 12, 1925 in Pewamo, Michigan the daughter of Herman and Marie (Farenkoff) Wahl. Georgia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, enjoyed playing Bridge and playing golf with her husband. She was a graduate of St. Lawrence Nursing School and worked for over 30 years as a Registered Nurse at Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. Johns. On April 6, 1948 she married Ronald W. Motz and he preceded her in death in 2001.
Surviving is one daughter, Carla (Michael) White of St. Johns; one son, Ronald (Eva) Motz of Okemos; five grandchildren, Tristan (Amber) Motz of TX, Megan and Jenna Motz of Okemos, Joshua (Priya) Emerson of Chicago and Jerome (Lindsay) White of DeWitt; three great grandchildren, Deven Emerson, Lukas and Elaina White; one sister, Elizabeth Fox of Orange City, FL; two nephews, John (Joyce) Fox of Bingham Farms, MI and Mike (Teri) Fox of FL.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, December 30, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Linden St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association or St. Joseph Catholic Church.


Dorothy E. Shook
Dorothy E. Shook, age 89, passed away on December 24, 2011 in St. Johns, Michigan. Dorothy was born September 28, 1922 in Maple Rapids, the daughter of Vern and Reba (Underwood) Craig. Dorothy was married to Gilbert C. Ward on June 29, 1941 and after his passing, to Roy D. Shook in May 1970, Roy also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Maple Rapids Congregational Church.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Courter and Barbara (Kenneth) Thelen; son, Donald (Mary Brewbaker) Ward; grandchildren, Andrew and Forrest Courter, Pamela (Patrick) Stump, Kenneth (Jaime) Thelen, Becky (Jack) Miller and Kerri (Chris) Tipps and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Carol Barton and Joyce (Joe) VanSickle; brothers, Gene, Jack, Gaylord and Jim (Shirley) Craig. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Reba Craig, husbands, Gilbert Ward and Roy D. Shook; her great granddaughters, Jacklynn and Carly Miller and her brother, Clare.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church with Pastor Jerry Kissling officiating, burial at Payne Cemetery in Maple Rapids. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns and from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Contributions will be made to a charity of her family’s choice. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.


Fredrick Edward Enos
Fredrick Edward Enos, age 78, of Elsie, Michigan died Monday, December 26th, 2011 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI. Pastor Frank Baur will officiate. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, Michigan.
Fred was born in Ovid, Michigan on January 25, 1933, the son of Frank N. and Cora (Buxton) Enos. He served his country in the US Air Force retiring in 1970. Fred’s first wife was Doris Drake. On August 18, 1966 he married Lee in Korea, she passed away July 1, 2003. On April 24, 2004 he married Karlene Snyder in Bannister, Michigan.
After his retirement from the Air Force, Fred enjoyed farming and enjoyed buying and selling livestock, He was also a former chief of police for the Villages of Chesaning and Elsie. He resided most of his life in the Elsie area, and was a member of the American Legion Post #502 and the 40/8 voiture.
He is survived by his wife Karlene Enos of Elsie, MI; daughter, Leesa and Steve Battershell of Midland, MI; 2 sons, Randy and Darlene Enos of Chesaning, MI; Fred and Kelli Enos Jr. of Charlotte, NC; step daughter, Jodie Moore of Leslie, MI; step son, Jerry Snyder of North Carolina; 19 grandchildren 22 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grand child, 1 sister Glenna Mankey, 1 brother Frank and Carol Enos.
He was predeceased by his parents, 1 daughter, Cheryl Lorraine, 2 sons, John and Frank, 2 great grandchildren, Donovan and Kelli.

Roy L. Andre
Roy L. Andre, died December 26, 2011, at the age of 86. He was born on May 16, 1925, in Detroit, the son of Floyd and Joan (Corby) Andre. Roy married Florence Lytle on November 18, 1972, and she survives him. He worked for Strohs Brewery as a delivery man and then worked for Duall in Owosso as a plastic welder when he retired in 1987.
Also surviving are his children, Paul (Marilyn) Andre of Farmington Hills, Mark (Marsha) Andre of Rogers City, Sue (Richard) Baker of Owosso, James (Valerie) Andre of Laingsburg, Robert (Chrissy) Andre of Morrice and stepson Troy (Ethel) Pratt of Pleasantville, NJ, stepdaughter, Laura (Barb) Pratt of Gulfport, MS, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and sister, Yvonne (Robert) Relf. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael and grandson, Cole Andre.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011, at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid.


Marietta D. Van Etten
Marietta D. Van Etten died December 22, 2011, at the age of 82. She was born on March 2, 1929, in Fowler, the daughter of Albert and Irene (Thelen) Schueller. She married Eugene VanEtten on May 29, 1953, and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1991.
Marietta is survived by her daughters, Gloria (Russ) Brauher, Mary (Bob) Pratt, sons, Sam (Darlinda) VanEtten, Eugene VanEtten, David (Julie) VanEtten, fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, sisters, Geraldine Geller and Theresa Fox, brothers, Richard (Kathy) Schueller, Jerome Schueller, Ambrose (Lorraine) Schueller and Gary (Rose) Schueller. Preceding Marietta in death along with her husband are her parents, sons, James and Paul, a grandson, sisters, Rita Skriba, Sr. Rosaline Schueller and brother, Joseph Schueller.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, burial to follow at Eureka Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Marietta’s memory to Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor. The family was served by The Osgood Funeral Homes.


David Andrew Grant
David Andrew Grant, age 18, of Ovid, MI passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 21, 2011. David was born on January 26, 1993 to Michelle Robinson and Terry Grant. He was a 2011 Ovid-Elsie graduate who lettered in and enjoyed both tennis and bowling.
David worked and excelled in the family business, Bill Robinson Tree Service, as an apprentice tree trimmer. One of David’s passions was hunting which he shared and enjoyed with his step-father. In younger years David also enjoyed soccer and football. His family and friends meant everything to him and he enjoyed spending time with them all. David, beloved son, brother, grandson, and nephew will be missed by many whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Michelle and Bill Robinson of Ovid; father, Terry Grant of California; brother, Kevin Grant of Owosso; sister, Alicia Grant of Ovid; step-brother, Billy Robinson of Ovid; step-sister, Malleri Robinson of Arizona; step-sister, Jessica Grant of California; Grandmother, Cecelia Highstreet of Haslett; grandmother, Donna Ortega of California; step-grandmother, Cheryl Highstreet of Haslett; step-grandmother, Remi Werner of Owosso; great-grandmother, Lucille Nafrady of Florida; many aunts and uncles, and cousins. David was preceded in death by his grandfather, Andy Highstreet of Haslett; and grandfather Kurt Grant of Lansing.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes with burial to follow. David’s family will receive friends 6- 8 P.M. Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday also at the Houghton Chapel in Ovid.

Esther Marie Robins
Esther Marie Robins, age 54, of Harrison, MI died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Mid Michigan Medical Center, Clare, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy will officiate. Burial will take place at Lowe Cemetery, Clinton County, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, and a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel.
Esther was born in Owosso, Michigan on June 13, 1957, the daughter of Noel Franklin and Donna Mae (Schultz) Smith. She was a graduate of St. Johns High School with the class of 1975. Esther married Kenneth Robins on November 9, 1985 in St. Johns, MI. Esther enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlework, and her Snoopy collection. She was a friendly compassionate, selfless, loving mother. She was a member of St. Celia Catholic Church Clare, MI.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth Robins of Harrison, MI, daughter Kendra Robins of Harrison, MI, mother Donna Smith of St. Johns, MI, sister Pam Adair of St. Johns, MI, brother Armond and Wendy Smith of St. Johns, MI, godmother Elizabeth Sadilek of Chesaning, MI, godfather Robert Daniels of Troy, MI, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Noel, and her grandparents.
