Bernice “Bunny” M. James
Bernice “Bunny” M. James passed away, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the age of 61. She was born on February 6, 1950, the daughter of Don Braman and Myrtle Elwood. Bunny enjoyed going to garage sales and attending craft shows and shopping. She also loved attending 4H Fairs.
Bunny is survived by her daughters, Laura (Brad) May, Kelly James, Melissa James, son, Jason James, grandchildren, Skylar James, Andy May, Jayden Luke, brothers, Dee (Jennifer) Braman, David (Karen) Braman and her special buddy, Thelma Elwood. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Howorth and Myrtle Elwood, and brother, Ano Elwood. The family would like to extend a special thank you to, Heartland Hospice, Candy Bush, Shelby Bush, Brian Engels, Kara Bush, John Bush and Brandon Bush.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012, with Pastor Tim Dickerson officiating, at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Hilda Eileen Myers
Hilda Eileen Myers, died on January 16, 2012, at the age of 92. She was born January 30, 1919 in Middleton, the daughter of Vern and Leona Counseller. She was a Day Care provider and a Retail Clerk. She was preceded in death by husbands, Stephen Michalek and Allen Myers.
Surviving her are three daughters, Sandra K.(Bruce) Pifer, and Nancy J. Lewis of St. Johns, Barbara A.(Jerry) Bertram of Fowler, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty eight great grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were her two sons, Ed Michalek and Bill Michalek.
A private graveside service will be held. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Osgood Funeral Home of St. Johns.


Paula J. Cox
Paula J. Cox, 84 of Lansing, MI died on January 13, 2012 at Stoneleigh Residence after a short stay. Paula was born on December 13, 1927 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Paul and LeeAnn (McNitt) Crane. She graduated from Ovid High School in 1945 and on April 6, 1946 she married William E. Cox in Detroit, MI. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 2008. Paula had worked at Redmond’s in Owosso and at Gibson Refrigeration in Greenville, MI. She enjoyed reading, poetry, and had been active in the Gunnisonville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by son Richard Cox of DeWitt, MI and daughter Joette (Steven) Silverthorne of Greenville, MI. 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Johnson.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home in St. Johns, MI, 2-4P.M. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Services will be at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Stilson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lansing or Gunnisonville U.M. Church.


Coleta Grace Stearns

Coleta Grace Stearns died, January 11, 2012, at the age of 105. She was born in Pompeii, Michigan on October 27, 1906, the daughter of Claude Orville and Allie Annette (Peet) Davis. Coleta married Hubert J. Stearns on April 8, 1933 and he preceded her in death January 23, 1995. She loved to do daily crossword puzzles.
She is survived by two sons, Lloyd (Janet) Stearns of Saline and Duane Stearns of Grand Rapids, four grandchildren, Claudette (Steven) Weaver of Dexter, Michael (Marie) Stearns of Grand Rapids, Lisa (Brian) Lancaster of Jenison and Sharleen Stearns of Milan, six great grandchildren, Sarah and Spencer Weaver, Amelie and Nathan Stearns and Tyler and Jake Lancaster. In addition to her husband, Coleta was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Susan Brososky, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Stearns and brother, Aubrey Davis.
Funeral Services will be, 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Osgood Funeral Home, burial at Union Home Cemetery with Rev. Lori Sykes officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, 9 a.m. till 12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
