Danny Lee Eyer
Danny Lee Eyer, age 63, of Carson City, formerly of Perrinton, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Carson City Hospital.
Memorial services for Danny will be held 11am, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Lux and Dodge Memorial Chapel with Karen Messmer officiating. Interment will be in Fulton Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington Disease Society of American, 1174 James Savage Rd. Midland, MI 48640-5651.
Danny was born May 1, 1948 in St. Johns the son of R.B. and Betty (Johnson) Eyer. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1967. He married Connie Lynn Aungst on May 2nd 1970 and together they raised two children. He worked for Federal Mogul retiring in 2004 after 37 years with the company. Danny was an avid softball player, hunter, and golfer.
He is survived by two children, Robert Eyer and Kelly (Bill) Henry both of Carson City, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two brothers, Gary (Kathleen) Eyer of North Star and Rodney Eyer of St. Louis. Also his mother and father-in-law, Basil and Joan Davis of Maple Rapids and several nieces and nephews.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, wife Connie and a sister, Susan Musser.


Frances M. Frechen
Frances M. (Fedewa) Frechen, age 91, passed away on March 6, 2012 in Fowler, Michigan. Frances was born November 14, 1920 in Westphalia, the daughter of William and Odelia (Simmon) Fedewa. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler and the Christian Mothers Society. Frances married Roy Frechen on May 7, 1945 in Westphalia and he survives her.
Along with her husband, Frances is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Frederick) Smith of Westphalia; three sons, Ronald (Linda) of Livonia, Bruce (Ann) and Randy (Nan) of Fowler; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry; sisters, Rosella Theis, Eleanor Freund, Geneva Thelen and brother, Celester Fedewa.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding, burial will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday, March 8 in the Activity Center at Most Holy Trinity. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 P.M. Thursday also at the Activity Center. Memorial contributions in Frances’ name to the American Cancer Society or the M.H. T. Educational Trust Fund. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.


Agnes Feldpausch
Agnes Feldpausch, age 99, died on March 6, 2012. She was born in Dallas Twp. on April 10, 1912, the daughter of Peter and Theresa (Rademacher) Simon. On August 25, 1937, she married Harold Feldpausch in Fowler.
Agnes is survived by her children, David (Rita) Feldpausch, Ruth (Raghuvir) Talwalker, Alice (Paul) Heinrich, Joe (Elizabeth), Peter (Margene), Mark (Leslie), John (Monica) and Bill (Kathy) Feldpausch; 22 Grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Her husband, Harold passed away in 1964.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Fowler. Family will receive friends at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes also in Fowler 7-9 P.M. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Friday. Rosaries will be prayed 8 P.M. Thursday and 3 P.M. Friday with a scripture service at 8 P.M. Friday.


Patricia R. Flynn
Patricia R. Flynn, 78 of St. Johns, MI died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Sparrow Clinton Hospital. Patricia was born on November 7, 1933 the daughter of Joseph A. and Cornelia C. (Denious) Flynn. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Akron, Ohio. Patricia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed studying about the Shroud of Turin, and was an avid practitioner of good nutrition and healthy living.
She is survived by nieces, Cecilia (Ed) Canfield of St. Johns, Margaret (Pat) Curtin of Traverse City, MI, Barbara (Al) Mahieu of Kalamazoo, MI, Mary (Don) Ramlow of Portage, MI and Mary Jo Folkman of South Euclid, OH. Nephews, Robert Orr of Kalamazoo, MI, Bill (Valerie) Orr of Augusta, MI and Ed (Stacey) Orr. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and 2 sisters.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden St., St. Johns, MI at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 9, 2012 with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. until service time. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or St. Joseph Catholic School.


Maynard F. Bailey
Maynard F. Bailey died Friday, March 2, 2012 at the age of 90 at his winter home in Florida. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on November 13, 1921. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in St. Johns and Englewood United Methodist Church in Englewood,FL. Maynard graduated from Petosky High School in 1940 and served as a civilian employee for the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the war he worked for AC Spark Plug and Pfister-Wright Plumbing and Heating in Flint. He also served as a firefighter in Flint and retired in 1972 as a Deputy Fire Marshall from the City of Flint.
He moved to St. Johns in the mid 1970’s and became the owner / operator of Herbruck’s Cheese Counter in St. Johns and was the co-inventor of chocolate cheese. Maynard was an avid golfer, loved to travel and was able to visit every state in the United States and enjoyed reading. He married Esther Herbruck on February 7, 1942 and she preceded him in death in 1989. On December 15, 1990 he married Sally Bedell Gavenda and she survives him.
Also surviving are two daughters, Diana (Darrell) Morton of Columbiaville and Denise (Alfred) Walker of Williamston; two step daughters, Cathy (James) Uribe of Ashley and Beth (Roy) Hollis of St. Johns; nine grandchildren, Dustin Morton, Darcy (Brad) Affholter, Adrienne (Matthew) Walker Porter, Leah Lyn Walker, Whitney Lynne Walker, Hailey and Tyler Uribe and Kelci and Kylie Hollis; five great grandchildren, Serena Morton, twins, Ben and Nick Affholter and Zac and Abby Affholter; one brother, Harley (Esther) Bailey of MN. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Ellis and Orville and one sister, Lois.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 9, 2012 at First United Methodist Church 200 E. State St. Johns with Pastor Lori Sykes officiating. Interment will be at 3:30 PM in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint, MI. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday, March 8 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns and one hour prior the funeral service at the church. Memorials may be made to Relay for Life or a Hospice organization of the donor’s choice.


Paul A. Bennett
Paul A. Bennett, beloved father, and grandfather, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, to be with his Savior on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the age of 90.
Lieutenant JG Paul A. Bennett, USNR, was born January 8, 1922 in Milnor, North Dakota. In 1941 he worked in California for North American Aviation, where he worked on the final assembly of the first ninety-five B-25 bombers built for the Army. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy early in 1942 after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
Paul served two tours of duty as a carrier-based pilot in the Pacific with Composite Squadron 10 (VC 10), flying TBM Avenger torpedo bombers. His first tour was on the USS Gambier Bay, until it was sunk by enemy battleships during the battle of Leyte Gulf. For his heroic attacks on enemy ships during that battle, Paul was awarded the Silver Star and the Air Medal, and his squadron later received a Presidential Unit Citation.
He returned to college in 1946 and received a BSME from North Dakota State, was then appointed a Graduate Research Assistant at Purdue University, and received a MSME degree from Purdue in 1952. While in college Paul married Ruth Lovas on December 28, 1946.
They had 4 children. Randy (Carolyn) of Mt. Pleasant MI; Joyce (Don) Ross of Lansing MI; Cindy (Andy) Deveau of St. Johns MI; and Tim (Kris) of Spooner WI. They also had 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Paul is survived by his sisters, Alice (Don) Lee of Milner, ND and June Jorgenson of Lisbon, ND. Ruth Lorayne (Lovas) Bennett died on March 10, 2006 and son Randy in 2007.
After graduating from Purdue, Paul worked 45 years as an automotive engineer, improving the performance of petroleum products in internal combustion engines. His research resulted in a number of design changes. Most significant was his patent for developing the PCV valve, now standard emissions equipment on all cars world wide. His work earned him international recognition, and he was honored by his selection as an SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Fellow. He also worked as a consultant to the U. S. Army, engine manufacturers, the petroleum industry, and served as an expert witness in several lawsuits, before his retirement in 1997.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 511 E. Sturgis St. Johns with Rev. Dr. Bryan Salminen officiating. Interment will follow at South Bingham Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, March 2, 2012 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. Memorials may be made to the Bennett Endowment Fund at St. John Lutheran Church.
