Hollis B. “Pat” Patterson
Hollis B. “Pat” Patterson, died Tuesday, April 12, 2012 at the age of 94. He was born July 14, 1917, in Vermontville, MI. The son of Jesse and L. Estella (Ballou) Patterson. Pat married Doris Arlene Raidel on December 26, 1937 in Indiana. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2006.
Pat is survived by his daughter, Janet (Bruce) Cornelius of Haslett, son, Douglas (Gloria) Patterson of DeWitt, grandchildren, Steve (Kerry) Dodos, Lenny (Noreen) Patterson, great grandchildren, Christopher Dodos, Jennifer (Grady) Fallon, Benjamin Dodos, Justin Patterson, Jesse Patterson, great great grandchildren, Cooper Fallon and Ellie Fallon as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Doris, Pat was preceded in death by three grandsons, Anthony Dodos, Patrick Patterson and Erik Patterson.
Pat attended the National Institute of Dry Cleaning in Maryland. He remained in the dry cleaning profession for 40 years. Pat was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and Capital City Gun Club, as well as a life time member of the National Rifle Association. He was also Captain in the Civil Air Patrol.
A private graveside service was held. Memorial contributions may be made in Pat’s memory to Clinton County Meals on Wheels, 201 E. Walker St, St. Johns, MI. 48879. The family was served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
Mark M. Stambersky
Mark M. Stambersky, 37, died unexpectedly in a car accident on Sunday April 8, 2012. He was born on June 17, 1974 in Owosso, Michigan. He was the son of Michael Stambersky and Karen Haring. Mark was an avid hunter, fisherman and a HUGE Red Wings fan.
Mark is survived by his parents, Karen (Jeff) Haring, Michael Stambersky, wife, Teresa Mulder, children, Jack and Ruby Stambersky, sister, Susan (Kevin) Dittrich, step-sister, Lianne (Flint) Fosnight, grandparents, Wilma Stambersky and Catherine Hallead, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as many, many close friends. Mark was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Richard Hallead, and Michael Stambersky.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday April 12, 2012, at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns, with Pastor Steve Brown officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-8 PM and Wednesday, 10 AM – 12 PM and 6-8 PM at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid.

Orville W. Devereaux
Orville W. Devereaux, age 88, died April 8, 2012. He was born in Clinton County on February 5, 1924, the son of Ward and Lilas (Case) Devereaux. He married Virginia Brewbaker on May 27, 1945 and she survives him. Orville retired from the Public School System in Van Buren, Ohio as Maintenance Supervisor.
Also surviving are children, Connie (Tom) Coe, Dianne Devereaux and Tim (Charmain) Devereaux, 7 grandchildren, David (Shannon) Coe, Lisa Barillas, Jeremiah Devereaux, Jennifer (John) Ummel, Lana (Ragland) Appathurai, Gabriel (Tracy) Devereaux and Ben Devereaux, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, sister, Amber Easlick and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, sons, Gale and Mark Devereaux and sisters, Faith and Marie Devereaux.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at the First Church of God in St. Johns with Rev. Dave Burnett officiating, burial to follow at Duplain Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made in Orville’s name to the First Church of God. Military Services will be provided by VFW Post #4113, St. Johns Honor Guard. The family was served by Osgood Funeral Homes.
Max E. Slagel
Max E. Slagel, 79 of Ithaca, MI died on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Laurels of Carson City. Max was born on July 22, 1932 in Maple Rapids, MI the son of Elmer J. and Sarah (Conrad) Slagel. He graduated from St. Louis High School and on September 24, 1994 he married Mary Blemaster in Ashley, MI. Max had worked at Michigan Sugar Co. in Saginaw, MI as a field manager and retired in 1994. He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, enjoyed watching sports, playing ball with his little buddy, playing word search puzzles, mowing lawn and especially being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Max is survived by his wife, Mary Blemaster Slagel, son James (Dawn) Blemaster of St. Johns, daughter-in-law, Sue Blemaster of Portland, MI; grandchildren, Michael Blemaster, Michelle (Terry) Billings, Julia (Dennis) Crowley, Kara (Joe) Spenski and Daniel Blemaster and Stacy Blemaster. 8 great grandchildren; sisters Betty Snyder of Indiana, Anna Walker of Coleman, MI, and Carol Hershberger and Evelyn Sharick both of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his son Dan, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church, 9785 S. Bagley Rd. (US-27) Ashley, MI 48806 on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Joe Pendleton and Pastor Steve Slagel officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Twp. Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Bethel Mennonite Church.
