June Jeannette Winsor
June Jeannette Winsor passed away, Monday, June 11, 2012 at the age of 79. Born on June 22, 1932 in Northville Twp., Michigan. She was the daughter of Ellis and Edith (Johnson) Avey. June married Carl Winsor on January 27, 1951, in Middleton, Michigan and he survives her. June and Carl were members of the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Women’s Fellowship.
In addition to her husband Carl, June is survived by her children, Donna (Larry) Bongard of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Daniel (Loretta) Winsor of Maple Rapids, Richard (Nadine) Winsor of Baker City, Oregon, Linda (Donald) Blair of Carson City, Jeannette (Michael) Biehl of Perrinton, Christine (Brent) Lewis of Alpena, Steven (Diana) Winsor of Alamogordo, New Mexico, 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, many brothers and sisters in law as well as many nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bruce Avey.
A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM, Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church with Pastor Jerry Kissling officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 AM – 12 PM prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church.

Maxine K. Hughes
Maxine K. Hughes, passed away on June 10, 2012 at the age of 89. She was born November 8, 1922 in Ravenna, MI. The daughter of Gerald and Elsie (Dahl) McNitt. Maxine was retired from the former D&C Store in St. Johns, MI, where many children from town knew her simply as “Grandma Mikki”, the little red-headed woman behind the candy counter. May she rest in peace.
Maxine is survived by three sisters, Geri Benedum, of Milwaukee, Ruth McCarthy and Doris Krupp of Muskegon. She had four children, Daniel (Sue) Neuman of Muskegon, Jeff Neuman of California, Steven (Jan) Coffman of Battle Creek and Beth (Dave) Thomas of Roscommon. She had 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and her grandson, Brian Bennett.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Due to her love for the family pets, memorial donations may be made to Roscommon County Animal Shelter or a charity of her family’s choice. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
William John Hansen
William John Hansen, age 85, of St. Johns, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. The son of George and Hazel (Boone) Hansen, he was born on February 26, 1927 in Cheboygan, Michigan, and was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hansen retired from the Clinton County Road Commission.
Survivors include his children, LuAnn Visser of St. Johns, and Roger Hansen of DeWitt.
Memorial services are being planned and will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, honored providers of Veterans Funeral Care.
Vernon Harger
Vernon Harger, age 84, passed away on June 10, 2012 in Alma, Michigan. Vernon was born in St. Johns, Michigan the son of Frank and Mae (Taylor) Harger on March 27, 1927. Vernon married Beverly Carter in Angola, Indiana on July 9, 1949 and she preceded him in death on August 29, 2000.
He is survived by his daughters, Rose (Patrick) Wilcox, and Debbie Moore; sons, Ron (Bonnie), Dale (Linda), Wayne (Joanne Querio) and Warren (Kimberly) Harger; 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Vernon is also survived by his sister, Imogene Beck and brothers Edwin and Roy (Deloris) Harger and many nieces, nephews and other family members. Along with his parents and wife, Vernon was preceded in death by his sons, Ricky and Gale, and grand daughters, Cindy, Cassandra and Jennifer.
Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Osgood Funeral Home at 104 Cass St. in St. Johns with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating with burial following the service at Eureka Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Sympathy will be expressed in a donation to his family’s choice. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
Nancy L. Foland
Nancy L. Foland died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the age of 75. She was born August 14, 1936 in Matherton, MI the daughter of John and Letha (Stoudt) Gage. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent time with her husband fishing in Michigan and Canada and deer hunting in Michigan and Wyoming. Nancy was retired from the State of Michigan. On April 23, 1955 she married Rex Foland and he preceded her in death in 2005.
Surviving is one brother, William (Alberta) Gage of Hubbardston; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Betty Foland of Hope, MI and special friends, Kevin and Michelle Bailey of St. Johns. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Gordon and Dale Gage and five sisters, Wilma Quigley, Virginia Gunter, Cecile Schneller, Thersa Stevens and Joan Gerth and brother- in- law Max Foland.
A visitation for Nancy will be held 4-8 PM Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns 989-224-4422. Following Nancy’s direction there will be no services. Memorials may be made to the Clinton County Senior Center 210 E. Walker, St. Johns, MI 48879.
Evelyn I. Devereaux
Evelyn I. Devereaux died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the age of 82. She was born January 16, 1930 in Clio, MI the daughter of Lloyd and Nellie (Munger) Nixon. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf and loved working crossword puzzles. Evelyn was a volunteer at Clinton Memorial Hospital and was the former owner of the Oakwood Lounge in Pewamo, MI. On March 19, 1949 she married James Devereaux and he survives her.
Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Devereaux of Rives Junction and Cheryl (Randy) Fedewa of DeWitt; three sons, Doug of Cross Village, MI, Brad of Perrinton and Bruce (Donna) of Pewamo; ten grandchildren, Jason, Adam and Ryan Fedewa, Brandon and Craig Devereaux, Amber Smith, Mitchell and Abby Fedewa, Devin and Austin Devereaux; 22 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one sister, Eladine (Leo) Struck one brother, Lloyd (Margaret) Nixon Jr. all of Chesaning and sister-in-law, Dolores Nixon of Henderson. She was preceded in death by a grandson Aaron Devereaux, a sister, Joann Podoba and a brother, Bill Nixon.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. The family will receive relatives and friends 3-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association 310 N. Main St. Suite 100 Chelsea, MI 48118.
