Janet Marie Galecka
Janet Marie (Hartsuff) Galecka passed away on June 6, 2013 at the age of 71. Born November 21, 1941 in Lansing, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Dawn (Hemingway) Hartsuff. Janet was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, held several positions with in the Memorial Healthcare Hospital Auxiliary, was a master gardener and a 1959 graduate of Ovid High School.
Janet married Carl Galecka on March 2, 1984, in Owosso, MI and he survives her. She is also survived by her daughters, Theresa (Sunil) Merchant of West Covina, CA, Cindy (Jay) Brown of Long Beach, CA, one brother, Doug (Clarice) Hartsuff of Ovid, one sister, Barbara (Bruce) Hale of Tyler, TX, granddaughter, Nisha Merchant, sister-in-law, Chris Hartsuff, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jeffrey Hartsuff.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2013, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Owosso, with Fr. Michael O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery in Elsie, MI.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Shiawassee County or St. Paul Catholic Church. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.

Romona A. Bradley, age 65, of Bannister, Michigan passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at Spectrum of Greenville Hospital, Greenville, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Burial will be held at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Romona was born in St. Johns, Michigan on March 5, 1948, the daughter of Thomas F. and Mildred E. (Skaryd) Bradley. She resided most of her life in Ashley, Michigan, and was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge #225, Bannister, Michigan. She was also a member of the Bannister United Methodist Church, and the Elba Sunshine Club. Romona was a gentle soul who was the chairman of the charitable collection committee for the ZCBJ Lodge. She enjoyed riding her bike and visiting her neighbors. She collected recipes, and enjoyed cats and dogs.
She is survived by her brother Thomas and Diane Bradley of Bannister, MI, niece Anmarie and Brent Andrews of Ashley, MI, nephew Thomas and Paula Bradley of Salt Lake City, UT, niece Sarah Bradley of Bannister, MI, niece Mary and Charles Bradley-Olsen of St. Johns, MI, great nieces; Meggan, and Layla, and great nephews; Bradly, Gary, Isaac, Edward, Gregory. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Gary.
Memorials may be made to the ZCBJ Lodge or Bannister United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, Michigan.
Gerald Ignatz Koenigsknecht
Gerald Ignatz Koenigsknecht, 79, of Gaylord passed away June 1 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 19, 1934 to Leonard and Bernita (Cook) Koenigsknecht. On July 24, 1954, he married the love of his life, Joann Ondrusek who survives.
Jerry proudly served as a Michigan State Policeman for 31 years, retiring as a Sergeant from the Gaylord Post #73. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, serving in many capacities, most recently as the commander of the 4th Degree Color Corp. A master of all trades, Jerry was an avid hunter, fisherman, skilled woodworker and volunteer handyman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joann; children, Jim (Linda) Koenigsknecht, Mike Koenigsknecht, Lisa (Rick) Myers, Kevin (Diane) Koenigsknecht and Amy Koenigsknecht; grandchildren, Carolyn (Tony), Luke (Heather), Jennifer (Jack), Brandon, Justin, Brian, Jeremy (Ria), Amber (Steve), Dylan, Kyle and Sir Baxter of Foxtail; great grandchildren, Taylor, Lauryn, Myah, Claire, Taylor, Dillon and Jack; sisters, Joan (Bill) Thelen, Sr. Donna Marie, OP, Phyllis (Jerry) Terrell; brothers, Dennis (Pat) Koenigsknecht, Alan (Sharon) Koenigsknecht and Daniel (Meg) Koenigsknecht.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 4 at 11 AM from St. Mary Cathedral. Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home will be held on Monday, June 3 from 4-8 PM and will continue at the Cathedral on Tuesday from 10 AM until the hour of Mass. The Knights of Columbus will offer a Rosary Monday evening at the funeral home beginning at 7 PM. Donna I. Hettinger
Donna I. Hettinger, 84 of Shepardsville, MI died on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, MI following a short illness. Donna was born on July 6, 1928 in Ovid, MI the daughter of Vern and Eleanor I. (Welter) Hettinger. Donna graduated from Ovid High School in 1946 and worked as a sales clerk for Kaufman Clothing in Owosso for many years, then she volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Hazel Findlay Country Manor. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and bowling, but her first love was the Shepardsville United Methodist Church activities and family.
She is survived by her brother Donald (Janice) Hettinger of Ovid, nephews, Mark Pollard, Brian (Theresa) Hettinger and Jeff (Brenda) Hettinger, and niece Connie (Mike) Walter. 10 great nieces and nephews and 5 great great nephews and her church family at Shepardsville United Methodist Church. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, sister Doris Pollard and nephew, Randy Pollard.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ovid. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Monday, June 3, 2013, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army or Hazel Findlay Country Manor.
Penelope (Penny) Ann Malesky
Penelope (Penny) Ann Malesky passed away, May 27, 2013 at the age of 69. Born February 28, 1944 in Detroit, she was the daughter of Robert and Charlotte (Walsh) Bennett. Penny married Robert Malesky on March 24, 1966 in Detroit, Michigan and he survives her.
Penny’s family includes her husband, Dr. Robert Malesky; children, Dana Malesky (Scott) Flegler of DeWitt, Sara (Shane) Ladwein of Midland, Charlotte (Shaun) Schneider of St. Johns; grandchildren, Makayla and Nicholas Flegler, Brendan, Thomas and Henry Ladwein, Vivian, Bennett and Penelope Schneider; her brother, Clyde (Sonia) Bennett of Rochester, MI; her sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Dudley (Wally Presten) and JorJan (Ken) Allen; cousins, Jim (Nancy) Booker, Marvin (Patti) Booker and Bill (Kathy) Booker; as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Charlotte Bennett and her in laws, George and Doris Malesky.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday June 8, 2013 at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns, with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating.
A Celebration of Life for Penny Malesky will follow the memorial service at 4:30 p.m., at the Banquet & Conference Center of DeWitt, 1120 Commerce Drive, DeWitt, MI 48820. www.bccdewitt.com. Cocktails and appetizers will be served at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Salvation Army.
