Sylvia Jean Ross
Sylvia Jean Ross, age 72, of St. Johns, passed away on November 6, 2013 at Grace Haven Assisted Living. A woman of multiple talents and a gift for laughter, Sylvia was born on December 7, 1940 in Manchester, South Dakota, the second of five daughters, to Robert and Lois Allen. Sylvia earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central Michigan University and retired from Michigan State University as Manager of Medical Records at Olin Health Center.
She is survived by her three children, Dave (Elaine) Ross of Ann Arbor, MI; Michael (Paul DeSandre) Ross of Atlanta, GA; Stacy (Neil) Prater of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren, Lauren Ross, Andrew John “A.J.” Ross, Quinn Prater and Isabella Prater; her four sisters, Sandra Flindt of Huron, SD, Janice Allen of Livonia, MI, Carole (Frank) Schwartz of Cary, NC, and Connie (Dennis) Schnabel of Mitchell, SD. Sylvia is also survived by her former husband, Quincy Ross of Las Vegas, NV. Sylvia will be missed by her friend and long time companion, Lannie Fisher of St. Johns and by the good people of Grace Haven Assisted Living.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. The family will receive relatives and friends for two hours prior the service on Saturday. Richard G. Wilkie
Richard G. “Dick” Wilkie, aged 85 of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Green Lake (Caledonia), went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 2, 2013. He was born June 17th, 1928 to William and Rose Wilkie of St. Johns. Dick proudly served in the Army. He retired from the State of Michigan working as a CPA throughout his career. Dick graduated from Western Michigan University, was a Past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, member of the Elks Club and the American Legion. He enjoyed traveling along with listening to music and was an avid card player.
He is survived by his special friend, Ardeth (Ardy) Matthews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine and five brothers and sisters. He will be greatly missed by his children, Bill and Jeannie Wilkie and Sarah and Dan Cain; grandchildren, Krystina, Meghan, Shannon, Chrissy, Kailey; David Matthews; brother, Bernard (Shirley) Wilkie; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 2:30 pm at Evergreen Cemetery, 2600 E. Mount Hope Ave., Lansing, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society. http://www.mkdfuneralhome.com.
Robert Robinson
Robert Robinson of Chapin, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at the age of 59 at Memorial Healthcare Center.
Bob was born November 24, 1953 in St. Johns, the son of Nettie (Robinson) and Gordon Tobias. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. Most of all Bob looked forward to spending time with his family and friends.
He married Kelley Zachar in Toledo, Ohio on September 12, 1986. Bob was employed with Chips Place and Shiawassee Council on Aging where he delivered meals.
He is survived by his wife Kelley; daughters Samantha Soliz, Michelle Wyon, Bobbie Wherry and Tonya Heckman; son-in-law Howie Wherry; grandchildren Seth Soliz, Alexander Bosley, Michael (Samantha) Davis, John Davis, Chaine Wyon, Tyler and Bailey Wherry, Cameron Cords and Alexah Heckman; great-grandson Jaden Davis; father and mother-in-law John and Mary Zachar; brothers Rick Tobias, Terry (Corine) Tobias, Dan (Sandy) Tobias, Lonny (Carolyn) Tobias, Marty (Polly) Tobias and Randy (Patty) Tobias; sisters Janet (Joe) Cosgrove, Tammy (James) Verburg; sister-in-law Stephanie (Brian) Pardee; special cousins Mark and Bill Black; many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, infant son Robert Jr, daughter Shannon and great granddaughter Hope. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shiawassee Council on Aging.
Funeral services were be held 11am Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor Marlene Webster officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery in Elsie. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8pm and Friday from 2 to 8pm.
David M. Rademacher
David M. Rademacher, age 60, of St. Johns died Sunday, November 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born September 28, 1953 to Denis and Mary Lou (Simmon) Rademacher, David was a farmer most his life and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns. On October 8, 1977, he married the love of his life, Diane (Grein) Rademacher, and she survives him.
Also surviving are his children Wesley (Elizabeth) Rademacher of St. Johns, Rachel (Kenneth) Lowell of Greenville, MI and Sara (Bradley) Brandt of Canton, MI; 5 grandchildren, Alexyss, Harleigh and Maxwell Rademacher and Morgan and Ethan Lowell; parents, Denis and Mary Lou (Simmon) Rademacher; siblings, Dee (Kevin) Thelen, Rosie (Darryl) Schmitz, Sandy (Ernie) Steffen, Deb (Gary) Hufnagel, Larry (Carol) Rademacher, Marcia (Dan) Whitmore, Linda (Dan) Rademacher, Leon (Nancy) Rademacher, and Karla Bellingar; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Rademacher.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden Ave., St. Johns, MI 48879, burial to follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Fr. Michael Williams presiding. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, MI 48879.
Ronald Levi Brown
The world lost a great man, almost a myth and a legend on Nov. 1, 2013 when Ronald Levi Brown (Ron) was called by the creator of all. A man who treasured the Earth and its riches to his very soul.
Ron was born in Farwell, MI on January 17, 1941 the son of Levi and Tressa (Wiggins) Brown. In 1961 he married Judith Ann LaRowe who died 26 yrs later, and in 1965 he started his 33 yr. career with Oldsmobile. He worked long night shifts at Plant 3 to provide for his growing legacy.
Later Ron married Honey Jane Karber (Charvat) of St. Johns who survives him along with son Glen David and Shelly Brown of Falmouth, MI; daughter Elizabeth Brown of Haslett, MI; son Daniel and Rosa Brown of Elsie, MI; son Jeremy and Kristy Charvat of Ovid, MI; son Randy and Kerrie Charvat of DeWitt, MI: daughter Lacy and Drew Quinn of St. Johns, MI; along with 18 special grandchildren Ross, Cynthia (Cory), Joshua (Rachel), Allison, Hunter, Melodi, Allen, Alyssa, Tristen, MacKenzie, Lindsay, Nick, Makala, Kiahla, Katrina, Chance, Donovan, and Dylan. Great grandbabies Riley and Carter. He is also survived by brother Norman and Kathy Brown of Farwell, MI; sister Phillis and Richard Arthur of Inman, SC; and brother Randy and Lori Brown of Farwell, MI. In addition to his parents and first wife, Judy, Ron was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, MI on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 11:00A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ron’s name to Clinton County RESA (Educational Center).
Carl E. Boog
Carl E. Boog, age 85, of Bannister, Michigan died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at MidMichigan Medical Center – Gratiot, Alma, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Mona Dye officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Carl was born in Bannister, Michigan on November 30, 1927, the son of Ernest and Elsie (Anderson) Boog. Carl attended Ashley High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force serving in the signal corp. On March 23, 1957 Carl married Ada Mae Mohn in Durand, Michigan. Carl had worked for Buick Motors for 10 years and Federal Mogul for 27 years retiring in 1987. He was also a farmer and was a Good Samaritan willing to help anyone in time of need. Carl resided most of his life in Bannister, Michigan and was a member of Bannister United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Ada Boog of Bannister, MI, 2 daughters; Cindy Marie and Tom Wilson of Ashley, MI, Tammy Lynn and Bill Terrell of Bannister, MI, 6 grandchildren; Jenny and Eric Fabus, Jamie and Alex Jones, John Wilson, Billy Terrell, Bryan Terrell, Carl Wilson, and 3 great grandchildren; Bryce Fabus, Macy Jones, and Blayne Fabus, 3 brothers; Stanley Boog, Harold Boog, and Mick and Margie Boog, sister Betty Martin, and sister in law Betty Boog. He was predeceased by his parents, son Carl, 3 brothers; Ernest, Robert and Dale, and 1 sister, Doris Boog.
Memorials may be made to Bannister United Methodist Church or Mid-Michigan Hospice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, Michigan.
