Frances E. Burl
Frances E. Burl, age 92, died November 24, 2013. She was born on May 21, 1921 in St. Johns, the daughter of John and Rose (Martin) Ernst. She married Maurice Burl on February 15, 1940 and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1980. Frances was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and was the former secretary of the St. Peter Lutheran Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her children, Douglas Burl, Duane (Teresa) Burl all of St. Johns, Dennis (Melissa) Burl of Midland and Duncan Burl of Shelbyville, TN., 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, brother John Ernst, sister in law, Reva Ernst and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death along with her husband are her parents, infant son, William, two daughters, Carolyn Shutes and Sharon Decker, daughter in law, Debora Burl, sons in law, David Decker and William Shutes, grandson, Daniel Decker and great grandson, David Decker III.
The Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Wed., November 27, 2013 at St. Peter Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Clark officiating, burial to follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns. Contributions may be made in Frances’ name to St. Peter Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.

Amelia A. Simerman
Amelia A. Simerman, 75, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013, at her home in Fort Wayne. Born in Saint Johns, MI, Amelia worked as a Secretary with Concordia Lutheran School for 15 years, retiring in 2002. Previously she worked with Indiana Michigan Electric (AEP) for 9 years. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her son, Andrew W. (Danielle K.) Simerman of Clayton, NC; daughter, Laura (Felipe) Saucedo of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Brianne, Mia, Scott and Melissa; three great grandchildren, Keaton, Abigail and Ella; sister, Eunice (Charlie) Giffhorn of Hicksville, OH; sister, Lois (Armand) Marchionna of Arvada, CO; brother, Arthur E. Nobis of Greenbay, WI; brother, Bill (Ruth) Nobis of Fort Wayne; sister, Ketts (Ozzie) Lehenbauer of Oviedo, FL; sister-in-law, Joyce DeReemer. Amelia was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Katherine (Graff) Nobis; brother, Mark Nobis.
Funeral Service is 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior, Rev. Douglas Croucher officiating. Calling also at the funeral home Tuesday, November 26, 2013 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Mariam Arlene Randolph
Mariam Arlene Randolph, age 92, of St. Johns, Michigan died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns, MI on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery Eureka, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mariam was born in Hanover Township, Jackson County, Michigan on December 5, 1920, the daughter of John Henry and Mary Harriett (Dawkins) Petro. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1938.
On March 10, 1946 Mariam married Elmore C. Randolph in Ionia, Michigan. Elmore died on September 23, 1995. Mariam had worked at the Macabee Home in Alma and Farmers Home Administration in Ithaca before becoming a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husbands business. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, UMW and served on many committees and helped start their Vacation Bible School. Mariam was also a member of the Extension Club.
She is survived by 2 sons; Randy Randolph of St. Johns, MI, and Bruce and Brenda Randolph of St. Johns, MI, 2 granddaughters; Jamie Randolph of St. Johns, MI, and Kari Randolph of St. Johns, MI, 3 sisters; Rita and Max Hott of St. Johns, MI, Lettie and Theron Jessup of St. Louis, MI, and Dawn Burnham of St. Johns, MI, sister in law Betty Petro of Alma, MI, and 23 nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, sisters; Marguerite Hinsman, Helen Uhrick, Jessie Mapes and Patricia Petro, and brothers; John, Paul and James Petro.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns, Michigan.
Ethel L. Presler
Ethel L. Presler, 96 died November 22, 2013 at Masonic Pathways in Alma. She was born on January 26, 1917 in Midland County, MI the daughter of Clyde and Anna (Struthers) Oswald. She graduated from St. Louis High in 1933 and was married to Milton P. Presler. He died in 1985.
Survived by her children, Gary Presler of Houghton Lake, MI; Richard (Grace) Presler of Holland, MI; Linda (Don) Goodney of Traverse City, MI and Connie (Gordon) Mosley of Troy Alabama. Brother, Vernon Oswald of South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Ken Bremer officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Monday, November 25, 2013, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
