Wayne D. Britten
Wayne D. Britten died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the age of 79. He was born May 22, 1934 in St. Johns, MI the son of Don and Margaret (Hoover) Britten. Wayne was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Gold Wing Touring Association. He retired from the Michigan Department of Transportation where he was a draftsman for bridge design.
Surviving are his wife Mary; son, Brian Britten (Teresa Connor) of Mason; daughters, Brenda (Mike) Smith of Fort Mill SC, Bonnie (Roger) Gregory of St. Johns and Sally Jo (Pat) Simon of Saranac; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister, Donna Pasch of San Diego, CA and brother, Richard of Arvada, CO.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Monday, February 3, 2014 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Paul Clark officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 pm until service time, Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 1755 Abbey Rd. East Lansing, MI 48823


Dwight Eugene Steffen
Dwight Eugene Steffen of Ionia died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the age of 46. Born October 31, 1967 in St. Johns to Donald Eugene and Rosalyn (Rademacher), Dwight married Deborah Ray in 2004 and she survives him.
Also surviving are his children, Kody Steffen and Kevin Ray both of Ionia; mother, Rosalyn Steffen of St. Johns; brother, Duane Myers; sisters, Jill Steffen, Judy (Mark) Carmody, Jody (Ron Price) Steffen; niece, Olivia Carmody; nephews, Hunter Price and Zack Steffen. Dwight was preceded in death by his father and nephew, Jaxon Carmody.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.


Joan M. Koenigsknecht
Joan M. Koenigsknecht of Fowler, MI died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the age of 88. Born January 19, 1926 to Frank and Rose Helen (Schafer) Stump, Joan was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She married George Joseph Koenigsknecht on May 4, 1949 in Pewamo, MI and he survives her.
Also surviving are her children Diane (John) Beck of Edison, NJ; Kathryn (Richard) Coletta of St. Johns; Luke (Susan) Koenigsknecht of St. Johns; Ruth (Glenn) Thelen of Fowler; Debra Sturk of Fowler; Lois (Timothy) Bengal of Westphalia; George (fiancé Jackie Aldridge) Koenigsknecht of St. Johns; 15 grandchildren, Richard, Jason, and James Coletta; Tracie Tiedt, Adam Koenigsknecht; Glenn, Nathan, Mitchell and Charlene Thelen; Jay and Audra Sturk; Douglas, Steven, Chelsea and Janay Bengal; 9 great grandchildren, Lily, Lucy, Zane and Brynn Coletta; Phillip and Alexis Tiedt; Andrew, Jack and Molly Koenigsknecht; sisters, Sr. Rosanne Stump, SLW of Chicago, IL and Sr. Julia Stump, SLW of Metaire, LA; sisters-in-law, Alice Stump and Theresa Stump both of Pewamo. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose; brothers, Robert, Melvin, and Leon Stump; sister, Kathryn Stump; sister-in-law, Suzanne Stump; and brothers and sisters in law, Melvin and Juliana Simon, Paul and Patricia Koenigsknecht, Msgr. Albert I. Koenigsknecht, MM, Mark and Margaret Schrauben, and John and Mary Klein.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler, with burial following at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2014 with a rosary being prayed at 3 PM and a vigil service at 8 PM at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home in Fowler.

Terry Douglas Reese
Terry Douglas Reese of St. Johns died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the age of 76. Born June 9, 1937 to Elmer and Josephine (Cleveland) Reese, Terry served in the US Army and retired from the Michigan National Guard at the rank of Sergeant Major after 37 years of service. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. In 1975 Terry married Joyce Elliott in Grand Ledge and she preceded him in death in 2007.
Surviving are Terry’s children; Sara (Troy) Marquardt of Macomb, Darren Elliott of DeWitt, Laura Bassett of St. Johns, Karin (Jim) Garcia of St. Johns; 10 grandchildren; Taylor, Kylie, Casey, Ridge, Samuel, Nicholas, Ashley, MaKenzie, Devin, Jesse; sister, Linda (Arthur) Howard; niece, Celeste (Kraig) Ehm, nephew, Grant (Tammy) Howard; and many dear friends. Along with his wife, Joyce, Terry was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Judith Reese, and infant daughter, Debbie Reese.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 511 E. Sturgis St., St. Johns, MI 48879 with Pastor Bryan Salminen officiating. Burial will follow at South Bingham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, MI. Donna A. Moore
Donna A. (Swan-Woods) Moore, age 92, died on January 23, 2014. She was born in Wheatfield Twp., on January 15, 1922, the daughter of Hoyle and Lydie (Potter) Swan. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ingham Co. Chapter, and a member of Duplain Church of Christ. Donna married David M. Woods Nov. 7, 1942 and he preceded her in death on August 28, 1970, she married Emery Parr Moore Sept. 29, 1974 and he preceded her in death on September 11, 1995.
Her children are Elizabeth (James) Stephenson of St. Johns, Thomas (Agnes) Moore of Fowler, Albert (Kelly) Moore of St. Johns, Kenneth (Karen) Woods of Allen Park, Ina (James) Taylor of Eureka and Bruce (Eileen) Moore of Laingsburg, 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, 2 sister’s in law, Viola Swan, Gerry Moore and many, many nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her husbands; son, Thomas Moore; grandchildren, Scott, Tommy and Bethany Moore.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Duplain Church of Christ with Pastor Marty Moore officiating, burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns. Contributions may be made to Duplain Church of Christ in memory of Donna. Osmond H. Smith Jr.
Osmond H. Smith Jr., 79 of Ovid, MI died on Thursday, January 23, 2014. He was born on February 25, 1934 in Flint, MI the son of Osmond H. Smith Sr. and Dorothy (Rondeau) Smith. He graduated from Linden High School in 1953 and had worked at General Motors in Grand Blanc as a tool and die maker for 40 years. Osmond was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, loved his Allis Chalmers tractors, farming, travel and time with his family. On April 16, 1955 he married Pauline E. Tamlyn in Howell, MI.
She survives him as do his children, Dyleen Miller, Teresa (Russell) Ayers, Osmond Smith III and Sara (Gary) Fender all of Ovid, MI and Michael (Melanie) Smith of Saginaw; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, sisters Helen (Felton) Shoults of Flint, Shirley O’Brian of Texas and brother-in-law Gordon Pappenfuss. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nancy Pappenfuss, brothers Dale and Leslie Smith.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Don Neuville and Rev. Felton Shoults officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 A.M. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
