Riley Marie Schueller
Riley Marie Schueller, age 7 months, passed away on February 19, 2014 at U of M Hospital. She was born on July 19, 2013, the daughter of Dean and Marni (Dittenber) Schueller.
She is survived by her parents, Dean and Marni, grandparents, Julia Schueller of Fowler, Nancy Dittenber of Holt, John Dittenber of Winterhaven, FL, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Riley was preceded in death by her grandfather, Joseph Schueller.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Fowler with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding, burial to follow at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia St., Fowler. In memory of Riley, donations may be made to Sparrow Hospital N.I.C.U. or the Capital Area Down Syndrome Association.
The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.


Beverly Jane Knight
With a loving family at her bedside, Beverly Jane Knight passed away February 18, 2014. Jane was born June 16th, 1932 in the middle of the Great Depression. Her father, Jim Spousta, and Mother, Mae, endeavored to offer a life of learning and opportunity. Jane embraced education. She graduated at the top of her class from St. Johns High School (Rodney B. Wilson High) in 1950. She was President of her Senior Class and a member of the National Honor Society.
Jane met the love of her life at age 13. Dale Walter Knight and Beverly Jane Spousta were married December 28th, 1952. Jane became an avid fan of the MSU Spartans, accompanying Dale and the MSU Spartan Football team to a national championship and Rose Bowl win. Jane enjoyed season tickets to Spartan Football and Basketball for much of her adult life. Jane earned her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree from Michigan State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, in 1964. She was granted membership to the National Honor Society.
Jane’s degree from MSU specialized in reading. She embraced countless students with reading difficulties. Jane taught in St Johns for 25 years, receiving numerous accolades. She was elected President of the “Clinton Reading Council” upon its inception in 1985. In 1988 she was awarded the “Celebrate Literacy Award,” for excellence in her field, by the Presidents Council.
Jane’s true legacy is centered around family. Jane and Dale were married 62 years. Dale and Jane spent every day together. She was proud of her daughter Diane (Sis) and son Kevin (Butch.) Diane and Kevin celebrate Jane’s life as do her 4 grandchildren, Emily (Diane’s Beautiful Daughter,) Cameron, Landon and Elizabeth Knight. Jane was 10 when her brother Jim Spousta was born. She loved her little brother dearly. Jim and his wife Dottie survive Jane. The Spousta Clan was close and proud of their Slovak heritage. Family picnics were a Spousta Ritual. Jane is survived by many nieces and nephews. They all loved their “Janey”.
Dale’s family included 5 brothers. The Knight Family celebrated many holidays together. Raucous affairs filled with laughter and children. Jane developed fast friendships with her “Sisters and Brothers” (in law.) She is survived by Gwen Knight, Rex and Georgie , Doug and Jane (Doug’s Jane,) and Aldie Knight.
Jane was very active in the Big Sisters Program. She was extremely proud of her “Little Sister” Karen Howell Tossavainen, who credits Jane with changing her life.
Beverly Jane Knight was born into a time of great change. She embraced the new world, creating a successful professional career, while proudly nurturing a marriage and family. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 20th, from 3:00 to 7:00 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Friday, February 21, 11:00 at the Congregational Church in St. Johns. In lieu of flowers, Dale requests donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation or Big Brothers Big Sisters.


Steven John Czachowrski
Steven John Czachowrski, age 52, of Lansing, MI passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, MI on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns, MI. Visitation will take place on Saturday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Steven was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 12, 1962, the son of John Adam and Joann Barbara (Bunge) Czachowrski. He graduated from Everett High School in Lansing with the class of 1980. Steve was a lifelong resident of Lansing. He was a laborer for many companies including Terra Management, Eyde Company, Parker Hannifin, and worked at home with his father repairing small engines. Steve enjoyed coon hunting and fishing with his father. He loved rollerblading and appreciated many different kinds of music. Steve enjoyed many summers growing up at the family cottage in Crystal, Michigan.
He is survived by his sister Ann Marie Czachowrski of Grand Ledge, MI, aunt Sharon Cutler of Pinckney, MI, uncle Jerry and Jan Bunge of Lewiston, MI, aunt Sue Isaac of Mason, MI, aunt Betty Czachowrski of Sumner, MI, several cousins and friends, and special friend Allen McDaniel of Lansing, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, uncles; Bill and Ed Czachowrski, Will Bunge, John Isaac, Chuck Bohac, and Emil Ujlaky, aunts; Mary Ujlaky, Lottie Bohac, Anne Czachowrski, and Wantina Van Horn.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, Michigan.


Marjorie Rose Luttig
Marjorie Rose Luttig died February 18, 2014, at the age of 82. She was born February 8, 1932, in Pewamo, MI, to Martin and Elizabeth (Pohl) Cook. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. Margie retired from the State of Michigan and served as Dallas Township Clerk for over 20 years. Margie married her husband of over 60 years, Andrew Luttig on June 13, 1953 and he survives her.
Also surviving are her children: Terry (Eileen), Kathy (Bill) Feldpausch, Ellen, Larry (Michele), her grandchildren: Rebecca (Mike) Hafner, Benjamin (Elise) Feldpausch, Emily (Josh) Feldpausch, Eric Luttig, Amanda (Adam) Luttig, great grandson: Mason Hafner, brother Bruno (Mary Ann) Cook, brother Raymond Cook, sister-in-law Jeannine Cook, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, 4 infant children, brothers Robert and Richard, sisters Mildred LaPonsie and Lillie Zimmer and brother-in-law Bob Zimmer.
Alzheimer’s robbed Margie of her memory but not her spirit and energy for life.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2014, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding, burial to follow at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a rosary being prayed at 3 and a vigil prayed at 8 p.m. at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia St., Fowler, MI.

Carolyn J. Campbell
Carolyn J. Campbell of St. Johns, age 96 and a 54 year resident of St. Johns, MI, died February 5th, 2014 at St. Anne’s Mead in Southfield, MI. She is the widow of Lloyd B. Campbell.

Michael E. Bishop
Michael E. “Mick” Bishop died Friday, February 14, 2014 at the age of 67. He was born September 13, 1946 in St. Johns the son of Paul and Edith (Thomas) Bishop. Mick was a graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, Class of 1964. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, is an Army veteran and member of American Legion Post # 153 and VFW Post # 4113 in St. Johns. Mick retired from General Motors in 2003 where he worked in skilled trades as an electrician and was a member of U.A.W. Local #652.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Geri; two daughters, Staci (Mike) Lamsma of Coopersville, MI and Shan (Dave) Mitchell of Cedar Springs, MI; seven grandchildren, Cameron, Paige, Austin, Dylan and McKenzie Mitchell and Taylor and Rylee Lamsma; two sisters, Cheryl (Bob) Prichard of St. Johns, Lorraine (Millard) Douglas of FL; two brothers, Thomas Bishop of Ithaca and Doug (Deb) Bishop of St. Johns. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul and mother and step-father Edith and Mahlon Devereaux.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Linden, St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams as Celebrant. Rite of Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 1755 Abbey Rd. East Lansing, MI 48823.


Gerald J. Pohl
Gerald J. Pohl, loving husband, father, and grandfather died Friday, February 14, 2014 at the age of 82. Born April 11, 1931 to Louis and Catherine (Thelen) Pohl, Gerald served in the US Army, was a farmer, a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and VFW Post #3733. In 1955, he married Helen Pohl and she preceded him in death in 1992. In 1994 Gerald married Joan Feldpausch Pohl, and she survives him.
Also surviving are his children; Dave (Jeanette) Pohl, Thomas Pohl, James (fiancé Molly Hart) Pohl, Louis Pohl, Bruce Pohl, Mary (Glenn) Esch, Gerald (Patricia) Pohl, and Michael (Cassandra) Pohl; 20 grandchildren; brothers, Fr. Leon Pohl, Joe (Marie) Pohl; sisters; Sister Bernadine and Sister Mary Ann Pohl. Along with his wife, Helen, Gerald was preceded in death by his grandchildren; Karen and Jamie; brother; Norbert Pohl; and sisters; Rosalyn (Delbert) Smith, Sister Adeline and Sister Dorothy Pohl.
A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with burial following at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2014 with a rosary being prayed at 3 PM and a Vigil Service being prayed at 8 PM at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia St, Fowler, MI.
