Almeda May Nemanis
Almeda May Nemanis, of Ovid, MI died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the age of 86. Born in Duplain Township on September 29, 1927, she was the daughter of Alfred Chester and Minerva (Slane) Dickenson. Almeda was a member of the United Church of Ovid and founded Nemanis Electric with her husband. She married Paul Nemanis on November 29, 1947 and he preceded her in death on January 22, 2003 after 55 years of marriage.
Almeda is survived by her son, Bill (Pam) Nemanis of Ovid; son-in-law, Robert Sippola of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Joseph Nemanis, Robin (Ken) Ellis, Paul (Hope) Sippola, Emily (Brooke Kilyanek) Sippola; seven great grandchildren, Alexis, Kaycee and Loghan Ellis, Hannah and Brock Sippola, and Sanna and Carl Kilyanek-Sippola; and sister, Irene Jumper of St. Johns. In addition to her husband, Paul, Almeda was preceded in death by her daughter, Suzanne Sippola; brothers, James and Ernest Dickenson; and sisters, Ethel Risley, Aletha Bartlett, and Mary Snyder.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home, 232 E. Oak St, Ovid with Pastor Paul Damkoehler officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ovid. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Mid-Michigan, 1755 Abbey Road, East Lansing, MI 48823 or the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, 1169 Oak Valley Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48108.

Hila June Beaufore
Hila June (Doty) Beaufore, loving wife of Darwin for 58 years, and mother of Cindy Beaufore, Reggie Beaufore and Shelly Winchester passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the age of 78.
She is survived by her husband and three daughters, her son-in-laws Jeff Winchester of Owosso and Ron Magin of Richland, her older brother Russell (Joan) Doty of St. Johns, two younger sisters Freda (Al) Sober of North Port, Florida and Mary Thelen of Belding. She is also survived by all of her grandchildren Kyle, Collin and Annie Magin, Melanie (Steve) McDonnell, Israel (Susie), Isaac (Makailey) and Evan deAlmeida, Miles and Ian Winchester and great-grandchildren Audrey and Kiersten deAlmeida, Charleigh, Mike, Zack, Matt and Nicole McDonnell and Brigit de Almeida; brother-in-law Wayne (Agnes) Beaufore, sister-in-laws Jerry Ann Beaufore, Sharyl (Harry) Powers and Joyce Doty. She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Ora (Parks) Doty, her step-father Loree Wolcott and her youngest brother Gaylord.
Hila worked as a nurse tech at Owosso Memorial Healthcare in critical care, home health and hospice for 29 years and was a respite volunteer after retirement. She loved to travel with her husband from the Arctic Circle to Mexico and Labrador to California in their 5th wheel. Hila was a life-long, active member of the First Congregational Church. She enjoyed outings with friends such as the Red Hatters, the Friendship Club, and former co-workers. Most of all, Hila loved time with her family; always attending her grandchildren’s many events and activities.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Saturday, March 15, 2014 at First Congregational Church in St. Johns with Rev. Matt Olson officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm and Friday from 2 to 8pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Congregational Church in St. Johns.
Henry J. Schafer
Henry J. Schafer died March 9, 2014 at the age of 84. He was born on February 18, 1930 in Clinton Co., the son of William and Hildagard Schafer. He married Barbara Howorth on September 22, 1956 and she preceded him in death on June 14, 2009. Henry served with the United States Army during the Korean War, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Pewamo and retired from General Motors.
Surviving are his children, Keith (Tina) Schafer of Eaton Rapids, John (Denise) Schafer of Pewamo, Brenda (Kevin Forbes) Goerge of St. Johns and Diane (Robert) McKinney of St. Johns, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, sisters Pat (Roy) Howorth, Louise (Francis) Feldpausch and Diane (Carroll) Conway, brother, Ken (Katrinka) Schafer and many nieces and nephews. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara and brother, Bernie (Eileen) Schafer.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m, Friday, March 14, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Pewamo, burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with Fr. Charlon Mason presiding. Military Services will be provided by the VFW Post #3733. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m., on Thursday at Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns. In memory of Henry, donations may be made to The VFW Post #3733.

Elizabeth M. Stephenson
Elizabeth M. Stephenson died March 9, 2014 at the age of 70. She was born on August 21, 1943 in Mason, MI, the daughter of David and Donna (Swan) Woods. She married James Stephenson on December 1, 1984 and he survives her.
Also surviving Elizabeth are her children, Robyn (Roger) Estes of St. Johns, Jeff Quillin, Sandra Doerr and David Stephenson, all of Lansing and Dana (Greg) Krumm of St. Johns, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, brothers, Kenneth (Karen) Woods, Albert (Kelly) Moore and Bruce (Eileen) Moore, sister, Ina (Jim) Taylor, sister in law, Agnes Moore and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tom Moore.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, with burial following at Mt. Rest Cemetery with Rev. Cayle Beagle officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In memory of Elizabeth, donations may be made to Meals On Wheels or Safe House of Clinton County.
