Edna Flegler
Edna Wilhelmina (Luecht) Flegler passed away May 19, 2014 at the age of 92. She was born on March 17, 1922 to Edward and Emma (Schrader) Luecht, the sixth of seven girls. She was a life-long Lutheran; a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and St. Johns Lutheran Church. As a young girl, she worked for Roy Briggs, Justice of the Peace, and Charles Austin, Prosecuting Attorney. Edna was a secretary at Rodney B. Wilson High School for 32 years, most of those years as secretary to B. Stanley Pocuis, Principal, retiring in 1979. Following her school retirement, she worked for Briggs Real Estate and Century 21 Real Estate. Edna attended Pratt School and was a graduate of RBW in 1940 where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She married Francis Flegler on October 24, 1942, and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1976.
Edna is survived by her daughters, Cindy Vitek and Maureen Durbin; grandchildren, Cathy (Dan) Graham, Mindy Durbin, Brent Vitek, Joshua Durbin and Monica (Ryan) Dennings; great-grandchildren, Tori Newhall, Cody Newhall, Hunter Graham, Brenton Antes, Danielle Graham, Catrina Graham, Parker Dennings, Cooper Dennings and Isabel Durbin; great-great granddaughter, Trinitie Newhall; sister-in-law Ethel Flegler. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Emma, Dorothy (Herman) Pasch, Bertha (Clarence) Light, Esther (Maynard) Martens, Edith (Carl) Light, Florence (Lloyd) Hopp, and Verna (Ervin) Martens; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lewis (Opal) Flegler, Marina (Bob) Bandt, Alice Argensinger, Earl Flegler; and son-in-law Robert Vitek.
Edna enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, making crafts and sewing. She made and donated hundreds of quilts for abused and neglected children at the Ingham County Probate Court and St. Johns Lutheran Church for missions. Because of her love of travel, Edna organized community bus trips in and out of state, with assistance of Bernard Feldpasch of Bee’s Chevrolet. She was the Youth Choir Director and served as every officer on the Ladies Guild at her church. Edna, along with a couple of others started the TOPS program in St. Johns in the 1950’s. She was a volunteer Gray Lady at Clinton Memorial Hospital and tour guide at the Paine-Gilliam-Scott Museum. She was a founding member of the St. Johns Senior Drop-In Center and organized many parties and activities. Upon her retirement from the high school, Edna joined the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel where she served as President and Treasurer; and in 1995 was honored with the MARSP Distinguished Service Award. Edna received the honored William H. Patton award in September 2002.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23 at 11:00 AM at the St. Johns Lutheran Church, 511 East Sturgis Street, St. Johns, MI 48879 with Pastor Bryan Salminen officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21 from 6-8 PM and Thursday, May 22 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Johns Lutheran Church or Grace Haven Assisted Living.

George Patrick Campbell
George Patrick Campbell, age 71, of St. Johns died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Okemos Medical and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 19, 1943 in Alpena, MI son to the late Harold and Virginia (Lough) Campbell.
George is survived by his wife Kathleen (Burkart), his daughter Christina Campbell of Manchester, NH, his step-son Brian Monroe with wife Diane of Lansing, MI, his step-daughter Shari Moriarty with husband Joe and their two children Biancha and Brandon of St. Johns, MI, and his brother Steven Campbell with his wife Peg and their son William of Alpena, MI. George is predeceased by his loving parents and his brother David Campbell.
George is a humble man who has never been boastful about his accomplishments, though he has many. He graduated from Ferris State University in 1969 with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. George has been a licensed pharmacist for over 45 years. He graduated from Cooley Law School in 1983 with a Juris Doctor Degree. In 1999 George decided to develop independently and created his own pharmacy relief company called Mid-Michigan Relief Pharmacy Services Inc. George is a dedicated pharmacist, his passion is evident through the relationships he has developed with his clients and colleagues which is exemplified by his conduct and business integrity. Over the years George has established a presence, within the pharmacy community, throughout the state of Michigan due to the numerous businesses he has contracted to serve.
For the last 24 years George has been a devoted member of the St. Johns Lions Club. His service to the club and community were displayed though his passion and enthusiasm for the projects he worked on. Some of George’s favorite service endeavors include working White Cane, working the food trailer for Music in the Park and the Mint Festival. However, none can compare to the joy that he felt working with his wife to create the Pumpkins in the Park Festival with 5k run and revitalizing the St. Johns Lions Club Recycle Center.
George is not defined by his accomplishments alone. He is known to family and friends for his culinary savvy, his wine making, his love of fishing, and his clowning around. In 1992 George graduated from Clown College and “Skittles Rex” his Hobo alter ego was born. George has always had a lighthearted sense of humor and this spirit embodied his “Skittles Rex” character, which was delighted by all. Skittles graced the three rings of the Ringling Brothers Circus in 1993 and put smiles on the faces of many children at birthday parties. George is an amazing man who is loved dearly by his family and friends. His memory will forever be embodied in our hearts. We love you.

Hildegard W. Nacker
Hildegard W. Nacker of St. Johns, MI died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the age of 97. Born October 23, 1916 to Frederick and Augusta (Ludemann) Garchow, Hildegard was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She married Russell Nacker in 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1971.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol (Henry) Burkhardt of St. Johns; grandchildren, Patricia Burkhardt, Sandra (Morgan) Watt, James (Wendy) Burkhardt, Thomas (Helene) Burkhardt, Karen (Jeff) Spezia, and Kimberly (Doug) Krug; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Russell, Hildegard was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Diane Nauseda; one sister and eight brothers.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, MI 48879 with Pastor Bryan Salminen officiating. Burial will be Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia, MI. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Thomas L. Wyble
Thomas L. Wyble, 83 of St. Johns, MI died on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Prestige Pines in DeWitt, MI. Tom was born on February 26, 1931 in Lansing, MI the son of Dale and Genevieve (Meaghar) Wyble. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lansing and received his pharmacy degree from Ferris State University. He owned and operated Will Pharmacy in Lansing and later worked for Rite Aid Pharmacy also in Lansing. Tom was a veteran of the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 16, 1975 he married Geraldine L. (Woodhams) Shafley in St. Johns, MI. He attended the First United Methodist Church, and was a member of St. Johns Lions Club, The American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine; step Children, Gail (Thomas) Bullard of Mecosta, MI, Kristine (Cayle) Woodard of Milford, IN., and Pastor James (Wendy) Shafley of Saginaw, MI; son David Hewitt Wyble of Birch Run, MI, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, sister Loranne Fox and aunt and uncle, Lefty and Catherine Thornton.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor James Shafley officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lansing, MI. at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, 3-7 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Randall Alan Ott
Randall Alan Ott Holt, MI Age 70, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, after a brief but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Randall was born on January 24, 1944 in Lansing, MI, to Robert J. and Vivian M. Ott who preceded him. Randall attended Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. Johns, where he excelled in basketball and tennis, graduating in 1962. Randall attended Lansing Community College and studied Criminal Justice until he was called upon to serve in the United States Army. Randall served our country from February 1966 to January 1968 in the US Army Cavalry in Neubruecke, Germany. Upon return from military service, Randall attended Michigan State University and Mid-Michigan Police Academy. Upon completion he was hired by the Lansing Police Department in 1970. Randall proudly served and protected the residents and visitors of the City of Lansing as a Patrolman, Motor Officer and Traffic Accident Investigator / Reconstructionist, retiring in 1995 after 25 years of faithful service.
Randall is survived by his wife, Mary of Holt, son, Robert R.(Andrea) Ott of Holt, daughter, Michelle Ott of Charlotte, MI. Randall is also survived by grandchildren Danielle, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Ava, Alan Ott of Holt and Jessica Ott of Charlotte. Randall is also survived by a step-son Adam Shelton of Jackson and step-daughter Kelli Shelton of Holt.
Randall’s family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00PM on Sunday May 18, 2014 at the www.palmerbush.com, Holt-Delhi Chapel, 5035 W. Holt Rd. Holt, MI. A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Monday May 19, 2014 with Lansing Police Department Chaplain William Renfrew presiding at the funeral home. Dawn Ione Burnham
Dawn Ione Burnham, age 91, of St. Johns, MI passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Sparrow Health Systems, Sparrow Campus, Lansing, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, MI on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Tyler Barlage will officiate. Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Clinton County, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Dawn was born in Jackson County, Michigan on September 29, 1922, the daughter of John Paul and Mary Harriet (Dawkins) Petro. She graduated from St. Louis High School. Dawn married James Burnham at the St. Louis Church of Christ on August 15, 1943; he preceded her in death on June 17, 2002. Dawn enjoyed gardening, sewing, poetry, and volunteering at the church. She was a wonderful baker, especially pies, sugar cookies, and cinnamon rolls. She was secretary/treasurer for the family business, Burnham Farm Tiling. Dawn and James loved traveling, and visited many countries throughout the years. She was a member of Community Christian Church, St. Johns, MI.
She is survived by her 5 children; Michael and Amy Burnham of Chicago, IL, Patricia and Alan Johnson of Otisville, MI, John and Joan Burnham of DeWitt, MI, Coni and Michael Stephenson of Camarillo, CA, Jeff and Roxanne Burnham of St. Johns, MI, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Rita and Max Hott of St. Johns, MI, Lettie and Theron Jessup of St. Louis, MI, sister in law Betty Petro of Alma, MI, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Judith Ann, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Christian Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, Michigan.
