Frances T. Dunay
Frances T. Dunay died January 21, 2015 at the age 93. She was born February 17, 1921 in Bannister, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Bocek) Vandruska. Frances was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the ZCBJ in Bannister. She married August Dunay on February 4, 1939.
Surviving her are one son, Nicholas (Lucinda) Dunay of Ovid, two daughters, Elizabeth (Douglas) Brown of Ovid and Mary Frances (Dennis Morain) Dunay of Salida, CO, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, one brother, Louis (Maxine) Vandruska, two sisters, Sr. Mary Bertha and Helen Smolek and many nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, August, three brothers and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Holy Family Catholic Church of Ovid, with Fr. Raymond Urbanek presiding with burial following at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 25, 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid with Rosary at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
Wayne C. Walker
Wayne C. Walker, age 84, of Allegan, MI formerly of St. Johns, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at his home.
A Graveside Service will be held at South Bingham Township Cemetery, St. Johns, MI, at 10:00 A.M., with Pastor Terry Norton officiating.
Wayne was born in Breckenridge, Michigan on July 28, 1930, the son of George and Ruth (Risley) Walker. He graduated from Rodney B. High School in St. Johns, Michigan with the class of 1948. On August 4, 1956 Wayne married Helen M. Morrison in St. Johns, Michigan. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Wayne had farmed for many years. In his later years, he worked in the woods with the Amish and he provided transportation for them for many years. Wayne resided in St. Johns, Michigan, moving to Eaton Rapids and then to Minden City, Michigan, before moving to Allegan about 4 years ago.
He is survived by his wife Helen Walker of Allegan, MI, 2 daughters; Erma Witkowski, and LaVonne and George Pettinger, son Wayne Robert Walker, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, 1 sister Joyce and Jim Turner, and 5 brothers; Wendell and Rose Walker, Frank Howard, Arthur and Linda Howard, Ellis and Bonnie Howard, and Charles and Jennie Miller. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, son Robert, grandson Donald, 2 sisters; Geraldine and Carol and brother Irvin.

Lila Marie Kruger
Lila Marie Kruger, age 68, of St. Johns, MI passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held at Grove Bible Church, St. Johns, Michigan on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 3:00 P.M., with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
Lila was born in Lansing, Michigan on April 8, 1946, the daughter of Lyle Duane and Mildred Glenna (Tidd) Root. She graduated from Bath High School with the class of 1964. Lila married Donald Kruger on March 26, 1966 in Lansing, Michigan.
Lila enjoyed camping, fishing and taking care of her plants. She liked to sew, crochet and do crafts. Lila worked at Sparrow Hospital in the laundry department for 17 years. Lila loved her Jesus, family and her animals. She was a member of Grove Bible Church, St. Johns, MI.
She is survived by her husband Donny Kruger of St. Johns, MI, son Joel and Teresa Kruger of San Antonio, TX, daughter Becky and Jay Peterson of St. Johns, MI, son Nick and Deanna Kruger of Round Rock, TX, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 brother and 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, great granddaughter Adrianne Mae and 2 brothers, Dick and Billy.

Karen C. Tousley
Karen C. “Kay” Tousley, 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on January 19, 2015. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, she is finally at peace and in the arms of the Lord. Kay will be remembered for her fun loving nature and always being ready to lend a hand, including birthing baby goats. She was affectionately known as “Noah” for her many animals and it was her CB handle for many years. Kay’s love of goats was instrumental in starting several young people on the path to many years of 4-H fun.
Surviving are her children, Lora Lantis, Doreen (Jay) Wakefield, Claire (Ron) Squires and Julie (Leland) Jordan; eight grandchildren, Raymond, Jayne, Jayson, Alex, Sandy, Autumn, Amber, and Ryan; four great grandchildren and one sister, Janet (Curt) Oberlander. Kay was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Richard and sons-in-law, Larry Lantis and Ernie Hunter.
A memorial service will be held 12:00 noon Thursday, January 29, 2015 at House of Prayer 9947 East Old M-78 Haslett, MI with Pastor Dave Cokonougher officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday 10:00 AM until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to Grace Hospice 2205 Jolly Rd., Suite C, Okemos, MI 48864 or the Shiawassee County Fair Goat Barn, 2900 E. Hibbard Rd. Corunna, MI 48817. Make checks payable to Shiawassee County Friends of Fair and in the memo line put Goat Barn. The family was assisted with these arrangements by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.
Charlene M. Brown
Charlene M. Brown, 65 of St. Johns, MI died on January 15, 2015 at Hospice House in Lansing after a battle with cancer. Charlene was born on June 19, 1949 in Flint, MI the daughter of Rollin and June (Horton) Parker. On January 21, 1967 she married William Brown in DeWitt, MI. Charlene had worked for 20 years at Jack & Jill Pre School and 17 years in food service at St. Johns Middle School . She was a member of St. Johns Seventh Day Adventist Church, was a homemaker, wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed flowers and watching the birds.
She is survived by her husband William “Bill”; daughters Michele (Guy) Ward of Cedar Lake, MI, Danielle Patrick of Lansing, Amy (Shawn) Huff of Owosso and Rebekah Kilpatrick of St. Johns; 6 grandchildren, Alan (Brittany) Ward, Aaron Ward, Katie (Kurtis) Perry, Zakery Kilpatrick, Christopher and Parker Huff; 2 great grandchildren; brothers David (Bonnie) Parker of Potterville, Darrell (Mary) Parker of Webster, Fl, and Dennis (Lorelei) Parker of Edmore; sisters Cheryl (Roger) Hunt of Webster, Fl and Darla (Bill Young, her fiancé) Barnum of Holt, MI. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Dan Tower officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Sunday, January 18, 2015, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Seventh Day Adventist Church, Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or the Sparrow Regional Cancer Center.
