Marilyn Lee (Clark) Knight

Marilyn Lee (Clark) Knight, age 81 of Chelsea, Michigan died peacefully in her home on August 2, 2010 following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on April 30, 1929 in St. Johns, MI. Marilyn had a kind and compassionate heart and generously volunteered her time and talent to those in need. Her smile and her love of her family and friends will be greatly missed. She was an avid reader and made family genealogy her hobby for several years. Marilyn is survived by her husband Alden Knight. They were married October 2, 1949.
She is also survived by her children: Tracy (Mike) Baker of Winter Garden, FL, Laura (Don) Young, Sarasota, FL, Robert (Colleen) Knight, St. Johns, MI, Phil (Linda) Knight, Chelsea, MI. 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Charles S and Ethel Clark (Chapin). One brother, Charles (Bud) Clark, Jr., one sister, Judith Clark (Danley).
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Pilgrim United Methodist Church in St. Johns, MI. Burial of ashes will take place in Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. Memorial contributions may be made to Haiti Missions, c/o Pilgrim United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel.


Bonnie Lee Johnson

Bonnie Lee Johnson, mother, grandma, and friend went to her Lord and Savior July 30, 2010. Bonnie was one to put others before herself. It was an honor to have her as a mother. We loved her so much it hurt. We could not have picked a better mother ourselves if God would have let us. She loved and put family before her health, wealth, and time.
Surviving are her children, Kevin (Lori) Johnson of Laingsburg, Terry Johnson of Ovid, and Becky (Craig) Santrucek of Bannister; grandchildren, Emily, Craig Jr., Alicia, Erica, and Hayden Santrucek, Tiffany and Chase Johnson; brother, Paul “Wayne” Hunt; sisters, Daisy Anglin and Marilyn Hunt; and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Terry A. Johnson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Houghton Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid with Pastor Johnny Schlaack officiating. Burial will follow at Middlebury Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Ann Brown
Ann Brown, age 87, of St. Johns, Michigan died Friday, July 30th, 2010 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, Michigan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, Michigan on Tuesday August 3, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy will officiate. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
A Vigil Service will be held on 7:00 P. M. Monday at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, MI.
Ann was born in St. Johns, Michigan on May 31, 1923, the daughter of John and Mary (Charnota) Spess. On September 18, 1943 she married Edwin “Joe” Brown in St. Johns, Michigan. Edwin predeceased her on December 27, 2000. Ann resided most of her life in St. Johns and Ann was a Nurses Aid’s at Clinton Memorial Hospital for 25 years. She retired July 1, 1985. She was a member of the Guild at St. Joseph Catholic Church, she enjoyed living on the farm, always had a huge garden, loved her friends and family, and made “great cookies”. She enjoyed corresponding via written letters to her family and friends. Card playing was always an active part of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, Michigan.
She is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son: Sandra Robinson of Manistee, Michigan, Barbara and Stan Helms of St. Johns, Michigan, James and Sue Brown of St. Johns, Michigan. 5 grandsons: Nathan & Shelley Robinson, Robert Helms, Ben and Angela Helms, Eric Brown and Ryan Brown. 7 great grandchildren: Cassidy and Katelyn Robinson, Madison and Brock Helms, Cohen, Conner, and Carter Brown. She is also survived by her sister and one brother: Marie Plaza of St. Johns, Michigan, Steve and Dorothy Spess of Saginaw, Michigan. Ann had a host of friends and these three were very special to her: Donald and Astrida Cox and Lucille Ordway.
Memorials may be made to Sparrow Clinton Hospital St. Johns, or Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, or Sparrow Hospice Program. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns Chapel St. Johns, Michigan.


Alvin L. Schneider
Alvin L. Schneider, 69, died July 28, 2010. Born in St. Johns, Michigan and raised in Fowler, Michigan, he graduated from Michigan State University in 1969. He was a resident of Stow for 32 years and an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Al retired from Standard Oil of Ohio, BP, after 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, annual trips to Pokagon State Park in Indiana, bicycling, playing cards, golfing, camping and making homemade bread, pies and wine.
Preceded in death by his brothers Ron and Louis, Al is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara; son Douglas (Lori) Schneider of Hilliard, Ohio and their sons Josh, Donovan, Carson and Blake; daughters Krissi (Brian) Swab of North Royalton and their sons Adam, David and Benjamin; Stephanie (Michael) Rohr of Magnolia, Ohio; sisters Marie (Fred) Theis, Sr. Lucy Schneider , Sr. Agnes Schneider, Doris (Dale) Westrick; brothers Edgar (Betty) Schneider and Jim (Judy) Schneider, sisters-in-law Karen Schneider, Helen (Bob Skriba) and Lynn Raymond and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Sunday 2 to 5 PM and Monday 3 to 8 PM at Redmon Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Tuesday 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. nterment at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Red Cross, Summit County Chapter or Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Northeast Ohio Chapter.


Neal F. Snyder
Neal F. Snyder, went to be with the Lord, July 29, 2010, at the age of 72. He was born February 20, 1938, in Fowler, the son of William and Leona (Wieber) Snyder. Neal was the owner and operator of Snyder Wholesale Beef, was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the V.F.W. Post #3733. He married Rita Riley in Hubbarston on February 1, 1964, and she survives him.
Also surviving are their loving daughters, Michelle (Bob) Averill of Fowler, Kim (Joe) Goerge, Kelly Robbins, Vicki (Vince) Behovitz, all of Dewitt, and Kari (Jamie) Halfmann of Ada, sixteen loving grandchildren who were the light of his life, brother, Stan Snyder, sisters, Bernadine (Keith) Miller, Evelyn (Stan) Thelen, Karen (Gerry) Spitzley, Cindy (Jerome) Thelen, sister in law, Patricia Snyder, and many nieces and nephews. Neal was preceded in death by his parents, William and Leona and one brother, Clare Snyder.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 2, 2010, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Timothy MacDonald presiding, burial to follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, 7-9 p.m., with a rosary being prayed at 8 p.m., and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a vigil service at 8 p.m., at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 11112 W. Ionia, Fowler. Contributions may be made in memory of Neal to the family who in turn will make a donation to a charity of their choice. Randall M. Vining
Randall M. Vining, 88 of St. Johns, MI died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Sparrow Hospital in the comfort and company of family . Randall was born on May 8, 1922 in St. Louis, MI the son of William and Florence (Wonnocott) Vining and graduated from Fulton-Middleton High School in 1940. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 10th Armored Division, 90th Cavalry, Reconnaissance Troop A, and saw extensive action during the battle of the Bulge. He worked as Plant Manager for Stainless Ware in Detroit , was a police officer for Clare Municipal Police Dept and retired from Motor Wheel in Lansing. On Sept. 6, 1942 he married Katherine Marie Campbell in Trufant, MI. Randall enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, baseball, his military history and especially his family. He was one of the founders of the Detroit area youth baseball program in the 1950’s.
He is survived by his wife Katherine, children, Lynn (Paula) Vining, Jeanette (Tim) Dana and Diane (Loren) Huss all of Coleman, MI and Richard (Peg) Vining of St. Johns, and 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Mother & Father and brothers, Ronald and Desmond.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Keith Stork officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Emerson Twp. MI.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Friday, July 30, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.


Susan J. Stinson
Susan J. Stinson, age 72, died July 24, 2010. Born May 7, 1938 in Harbor Springs, the daughter of John and Sarah (McGinnis) Spaulding, she was a retired elementary school Librarian. Always cooking and baking for others, she was famous for her fried chicken. She enjoyed spending time with family, flower gardening, and was a NASCAR fan.
Surviving her are children, Neil Stinson Jr., Brent (Heather) Stinson, Beth (Marshall Baker) Kellogg, all of Ovid, Cindy (Patrick) Teffner of Gladwin, brothers, David, Charles, Robin, sisters, Shirley, Sally, Becky and Ellen, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Barbara, and two brothers, John and Tommy.
A private memorial service was held, Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes, 232 E. Oak St., Ovid, with Rev. Cayle Beagle officiating, burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. She will be greatly missed.
