Kenneth A. Pyle
Kenneth A. Pyle, died November 3, 2010, at the age of 73. He was born in Clinton County, MI, on April 5, 1937, the son of Grayling and Martha (Swanson) Pyle. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and Past Master of Masonic #105 F & AM. Kenneth retired in 1996 from Federal Mogul. He married, Janice Lockwood, January 4, 1958 and she preceded him in death on October 30, 1995.
Kenneth is survived by nephews, Gerald (Catherine) Scarborough, Mark (Dawn) Gove, Mat (Pamela) Gove, Michael (Margie) Gove, five nieces, Laura (Mark) Gilson, Tam (Brian) Buehler, Elizabeth (Starsky) El-Assadi, Mindy (Rob) Harmon, Jamie Hartman, great niece, Leanne Scarborough, great nephew, Gregory (Tami) Scarborough, sister- in -law, Priscilla (Ralph) Gove, and brother- in- law, Dave (Sandy) Lockwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Lorraine Scarborough and sister- in- law, Nancy Sensiba.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Osgood Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Gilson officiating, burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Contributions may be made in Ken’s memory to the First Congregational Church.
Gerald Lee Thompson
Gerald Lee Thompson, 73, of St. Johns, died November 3, 2010 after a lengthy illness.
As Gerald had wished the family will have a memorial service at a later date. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Home.
Margaret Seavey
Margaret Seavey, age 91, of St. Johns died Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Born in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 9, 1919 to Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Hooley) Sullivan. On September 24, 1944 Margaret married Joseph Seavey, Sr. Margaret was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns.
Margaret was a homemaker and also was a clerk at J.C. Penney.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Thomas (Suzie), Joe (Eleanor), Stan (Janette) and Leo (Kathie) Seavey; her daughters, Jeannie Simon and Erin (Jeff) Penney; 21 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and her brother, Tom (Shirley) Sullivan. Along with her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and son, John Seavey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 6, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns with the Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy presiding. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday, November 5, 2010 at Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns. A rosary will be prayed at 3 pm and a scripture service will be held at 7 PM at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of contributions to St. Vincent de Paul.

Norbert Pohl
Norbert Pohl, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather completed his journey here on earth, and returned home to the Lord on November 2, 2010 at the age of 88. He was born in Fowler, Michigan on March 7, 1922 and is the son of Louis and Catherine (Thelen) Pohl. One June 10, 1947, Norbert married his “one and only” Marian (Ulrich). Norbert passed away peacefully at home, and now joins his beloved wife, Marian who preceded him in death (2005).
Norbert will best be remembered for living a life of service to his family and community. In testimony to his great faith, Norbert lived with humility, humor and tremendous integrity. He was an active parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, an honorary life member of the Fourth Degree, and a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Norbert was a founding board member of many community and parish organizations including RAVE House (shelter for abused women and children), Board Member; Hazel I. Findley County Manor, Trustee and Fund Drive Chairman; Fowler High School, Board of Education Member; Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund and Parish Eucharistic Outreach Minister. He enjoyed his occupation as a dairy farmer for more than 60 years. Norbert remains the reigning Pohl family Euchre Champion.
Norbert is survived by his children, Robert (Gayle), Stan (Patty), Allen (Ellen) , Jerome (Ann Marie) and Mel (Pam) Pohl, Marie (Eric) Cross, Cathy (John) Leabu, Sue (Dean) Schrauben, Carol Crichton, and Phyllis (Mark) Ventocilla, 47 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren; brothers, Fr. Leon , Gerald (Joan) and Joe (Marie) Pohl; sisters, Sister Bernadine and Sister Mary Ann Pohl. Norbert was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; his sisters, Sister Adeline and Sister Dorothy Pohl, and Rosalyn (Delbert) Smith; his sister-in-law, Helen (Gerald) Pohl and his grandson, Benjamin Simon.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding, burial will be at the Most Holy Trinity Cemetery following the mass. Norbert’s family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Fowler with a rosary prayed at 3 pm and a vigil service at 8 pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund. Agnes L. Moriarty
Agnes L. Moriarty, 75, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in St. Johns, Michigan. She was born in Lansing, April 16, 1935 the daughter of Howard and Louise (Barcelow) May. Agnes married Earl Moriarty on May 8, 1965 in St. Johns and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2009.
Agnes is survived by her daughter, Mary (Tom) Kerby; her son, Joe (Shari) Moriarty; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kasey Kerby and Biancha and Brandon Moriarty. Agnes is also survived by her brothers, Robert (Arlene) May and Gary (Cherrie) May; sisters-in-law, Carol Skorna, Carol May and many nephews and nieces. Along with her parents and her husband, Agnes was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy May and brother, Joseph May.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, November 4, at the First Baptist Church in St. Johns, with Pastor Tim Knaus officiating and burial to follow at Ford Cemetery in Gratiot County. Wesley “Wes” J. Selby
Wesley “Wes” J. Selby passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the age of 76. He was born July 22, 1934 in Portage Township, MI to George and Hazel (Crisman) Selby. Wesley retired from Wohlert Corporation of Lansing. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marines and Army. He served in the Korean Conflict and was on call during the Vietnam War. Wes enjoyed golfing, hunting, and his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather who will be missed dearly by all that knew him. Preceding him in death were sisters, Hester Dagenais, Hazel Allen, Elizabeth Gage, Margaret Loehr, Dorothy Lesatz; brother, George Selby; father-in-law, Joseph Vogl; brother-in-law, William Vogl.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Sandra (Vogl) Selby; daughters, Treena (Michael) Wisniewski, Teresa (Craig) Simmons, Teri (Steve) Weber; grandchildren, Connor Wisniewski, Taylor Weber, Brooke Weber, Drew Weber; brothers, John (Lillie) Selby, Art (Carol) Selby, Ernie (Janice) Selby; sister, Mabel Snyder; brother-in-laws, Russ Dagenais, Alan (Linda) Vogl, sister-in-law, Diane Selby; mother-in-law, Kathleen Vogl; as well as several other nieces, nephews and friends.

Edith (Bishop) Devereaux
Edith (Bishop) Devereaux died Friday, October 29, 2010 at the age of 87. She was born July 29, 1923 in Lambert, Montana the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Hiatt) Thomas. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, crocheting and other crafts. She was a foster mother and a dispatcher for the St. Johns City Police. Edith married Paul Bishop on March 26, 1943 and he preceded her in death on November 4, 1976. She married Mahlon Devereaux January 19, 1980 and he preceded her in death on December 21, 2002. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Brian Bishop; a granddaughter, Paula Bishop; a stepson, Larry Devereaux; three sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (Bob) Prichard of St. Johns and Lorraine (Millard) Douglas of FL; three sons, Thomas Bishop (Carol Caesar) of Perrinton, Mick (Geri) Bishop and Doug (Deb) Bishop all of St. Johns; three stepsons, Lonnie (Kay) Devereaux, Lance (Laura) Devereaux and Dave (Bonnie) Devereaux all of St. Johns; 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; two sisters Marjorie Barbour and Bertha Gillmore both of St. Johns.
Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Monday, November 1, 2010 at Keck-Coleman Funeral
Home, St. Johns with Pastor Kathy Leydorf officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Martha A. Pease
Martha A. Pease passed away October 27, 2010, in Ovid, Michigan at the age of 91. Born in Alto, Michigan on November 27, 1918, she was the daughter of Elmer and Cora (Harris) Weir. Martha was a clerk Nick’s Fruit Market, and she was also a past member of the Houghton Lake Association. She married Harold L. Pease in Lansing, MI, on May 23, 1936, and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2006.
Surviving Martha are her three sons, Harold D. (Susan) Pease of Ovid, Richard (Diane) Pease of DeWitt and Roger (Sharon) Pease of Arizona, 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Martha is also survived by sister, Tressa Cornell of Owosso, and brothers, Elmer Weir and James Weir, both of Grand Ledge, and Eldon “Bud” Weir, of Lansing. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by grandchildren, Michael and Miriah Pease; great granddaughter, Valerie Pease; sisters Ruth Morgridge, Lila Lumbert, Orselia Matz, and brother Sidney Weir.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 1, 2010, at the Osgood Funeral Home, with Pastor Audie Clairmont officiating. The family will receive friends at the Osgood Funeral Home, 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, and 2-4 p.m. on Sunday. Contributions may be made in memory of Martha to The American Cancer Society-Lansing Office or The American Heart Assoc.-Lansing Office.
