Paine-Gillam-Scott Museum has Michigan’s oldest and largest Magnolia Tree on it’s property. The tree was authenticated by Dr. Woody Earl in June 2007.

Buds on magnolia trees come out in late summer and early fall of the year, and bloom in the next Spring. Some museum guests found strange looking blooms this fall (3rd week of September) and so we did a little research.

The pictures here were taken a week later, and many of the blooms had fallen off already. Follow the link to more information, including how to grow new trees from the pods. http://my.gardenguides.com/forums/topic/53001
