Chordsmen at Concert in Park

On August 10
An award-winning barbershop harmony chorus entertains guests Aug. 10 at the St. Johns City Park Performance Shell when the Capitol City Chordsmen take the stage at Concert in the Park. There is no admission charge to the 7 p.m. show at the lovely outdoor venue located next to the Fairgrounds in St. Johns.
Capitol City Chordsmen has been entertaining audiences for over 70 years. The chorus spans all age groups from all walks of life. Clinton County members include Bruce Fitzpatrick and Dave Fitzpatrick of St. Johns, and Brian Pianosi, Kaleb Lenneman and Kevin Lenneman all of Westphalia.
Capitol City Chordsmen is part of the international Barbershop Harmony Society that has over 30,000 members worldwide.

“Our society first and foremost gives singers, both beginners and trained vocalists, an opportunity to learn and enjoy our hobby,” says Dave Fitzpatrick. “We sing at many events throughout the mid-Michigan area including Silver Bells in the City in Lansing, the Curwood Festival in Owosso, Music in the Park at Lake Lansing, Lansing’s Lugnuts games, the St. Johns Mint Festival and our annual show at the Wharton Center.”
Concert in the Park is sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council and the city of St. Johns, with support from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts. In addition, the St. Johns Lions Club is being recognized at the Aug. 10 concert for its financial support of the Arts Council and the summer music series.
Concerts are held each Wednesday evening, beginning at 7 p.m., in the beautiful outdoor concert venue at the St. Johns City Park, located near Park and Morton streets. The St. Johns Lions and Lioness Club staff a concession stand each week that offers light refreshments. All concerts are held rain or shine.
