During her youth in nearby Portland, Shelby Ann-Marie was known as the “little girl with the big voice,” so it’s no wonder that tremendous vocal music talent landed her a spot at the age of 15 in Hollywood Week on season 13 of American Idol.

Area residents will have an opportunity to hear Shelby Ann-Marie’s musical style June 17 when she performs at the St. Johns City Park Performance Shell as part of the Concert in the Park free summer series. Show time is 7 p.m.

The 17-year-old singer/songwriter has performed at venues around Michigan and as far south as Florida. She has also continued to capture the attention of local residents by appearing on broadcasts like FOX 17’s Morning Show to perform her original song “Wanna Go Back.”

“Songwriting is a way for me to express myself in a way that I couldn’t otherwise do,” she says. “It helps me reflect and grow from my past. I hope that through my songwriting, I can give others a voice for their own lives.”

Shelby Ann-Marie is making impressive strides for a small town girl that has found a way to use her big voice to move closer to making her mark on the country music industry.
