Hope to make Durand a National Railroad Memorial

Diamond District Park
Senate resolution 88 was introduced this last week urging congress to adopt House Concurrent Resolution No. 50 which would make Diamond District Park in Durand a National Railroad Memorial.

“Durand has a long history in the Railroad industry, as a major contributor to building our nation,” said Sen. Rick Jones, R-Grand Ledge. “Home to three major railroads and one of the largest surviving train station Diamond District Park makes the perfect location for families across Michigan to come and learn more about our states rich history.”
After being asked by members of the Durand railroad community to urge congress to recognize the vital role the city has played in our nation’s history, Sen. Jones contacted Congressman Dave Camp on the matter and has been working with his office and local officials.
Senate Resolution 88 is a reflection of the hard work and coordination with others to establish a Durand National Railroad Memorial. http://www.nationalrailroadmemorial.com/content/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=6&Itemid=15
