Monday, January 24 and Tuesday, January 24 is pleased to announce auditions for “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling.
This comedy-drama, set in a small town beauty salon in Louisiana, is alternately hilarious and touching-and, in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness which underlies the banter of its six female characters. St. Johns resident Tom Webb will direct the production.
Auditions are Monday, January 24 and Tuesday, January 24 at 7 pm in the Rodney B. Wilson Auditorium at 101 Cass St. in St. Johns. Performances are March 2-11.
To audition, be prepared to read from the script. Sorry, perusal scripts are not available prior to auditions.
The characters, with suggested age range, are: Truvy, the salon owner (35-55); Annelle, her eager new assistant (20s); Miss Clairee, an elegant millionaire (50-70); M’Lynn, (40-55) the social leader, whose daughter, Shelby (20s) is the prettiest girl in town. The role of Ouiser, the town’s eccentric curmudgeon, has already been cast.
