Mr. Pocuis would be proud – maybe.
St. Johns alumni from more than a few years ago may recall a little tune about clandestine happenings “in the cellar of old Rodney B.”
Just to be clear, the Regulators won’t be promoting activities associated with that 1960s tune – but the self-described “basement band” will definitely provide lots of great music during its Nov. 5 concert at the Rodney B. Wilson Center Auditorium.
The show is the second in the 2010 Fall Concert Series that’s part of continuing fund-raising efforts for renovations at the auditorium located on Cass Street, across from the Clinton County Courthouse in downtown St. Johns. The Regulators take the stage at 7:30 p.m.; $5 admission at the door.
“The concert series brings live music to our mid-Michigan community at a reasonable price,” says Bill Tennant, series coordinator. “It also give area musicians a chance to perform in this beautiful venue – and at the same time, benefits the Wilson Center Auditorium renovation project.”

Five friends and co-workers – who share a love of music – are The Regulators. The band plays a random mix of pop and rock from the ’60s through today, with some folk, country and a few originals thrown in just for fun. They may not be professional musicians, but the band’s energy and enthusiasm is contagious.
Band members include Linda Mosher on keyboard and vocals, John McCabe and Thor Strong on guitar and vocals, Carrie Hardigan on drums and vocals, and St. Johns resident Phil Schrantz on bass.
Rounding out the series on Nov. 19 is well-known local singer and hammer dulcimer player, Ernie Block, along with singer guitar/keyboardist, Kathy Motycka. Block sings a variety of folk, Celtic and popular music, while Motycka’s focus is primarily original Indy Folk.
Funds generated by the concert series will go toward a sound system and lighting that are part of Phase 2 of the renovation project. The Wilson Center Auditorium Renovation Committee is also looking for interested people, families or groups to sponsor seats in the beautiful facility.
