Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held April 19
When Sparrow Clinton Hospital was founded in 1927, volunteers played an integral role in the development and delivery of quality health care. Today, volunteers remain a most valued asset at the hospital.
In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Sparrow Clinton Hospital honored volunteers’ achievements at its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held April 19.
All volunteers in good standing were invited to share in the celebration, which recognized the exceptional achievements made by hospital volunteers in 2012.

Chery Goff of St. Johns was named 2012 Volunteer of the Year. An active Sparrow Clinton Hospital advocate for more than 22 years, she has played a vital role in the Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary as a board member, stalwart fundraiser and supporter of all Auxiliary events and activities. Her commitment to that organization’s success was recognized by her peers in 2005 when she was named Auxillian of the Year.
She currently serves as co-chair of the Auxiliary Gift Shop, and has been the shop’s official bookkeeper for the past 17 years. She and her co-chairs work hard to keep the shop supplied with unique gift items by visiting Chicago for the annual vendor fair.
“Giving 110 percent aptly describes Chery Goff,” said Nan Simons, director of Sparrow Clinton Hospital Community Relations, Marketing & Volunteers. “Chery is a dedicated hospital advocate, and an outstanding asset to our team. We are very lucky to have the benefit of her expertise in the Gift Shop and the Auxiliary.”
