September 10
Sparrow Clinton Hospital Rehabilitation Center offers LSVT BIG ™ exercise treatment classes, beginning Sept. 10 from 11 am to noon.
Class participants must be graduates of the LSVT BIG ™ therapy program. This intensive program for treatment of Parkinson Disease and related neurological conditions specifically addresses the problem of slowed and small movements that is particularly disabling to people with Parkinson Disease.
Patients who complete the program benefit through faster walking with larger steps, improved balance, less falls, and improved movement in daily living activities.
Taught by Kelly Stewart, MS, PT, the only LSVT BIG ™ Certified Physical Therapist in an outpatient setting in Clinton County, classes are $8 per session or a 10-punch card may be purchased for $50.
“These classes can help many Patients regain and maintain their independence and quality of life,” says Stewart. “Research indicates that it is never too soon to begin. Exercise can improve brain function and participation in this program may delay progression of the disease.”
