With an album

St. Johns High School students will have a very special gift to open when they return to classrooms Jan. 7 following the holiday break – units A and D of the new academic wing will be ready and waiting.
The completion of the remaining two units marks the beginning of the end for new classroom construction and renovations in the ongoing bond project. The science and math classrooms in the new academic wing addition have been in use since the start of the 2012-13 school year.
Renovation work in Unit E (the media center and surrounding classrooms) is set to begin during the holiday break. Those areas will be completed in September 2013, as will three other major phases of the project – cafeteria/kitchen, competition gym and swimming pool.
Exterior brick on the gym was completed earlier this month, as was brick on the pool. Overhead work in the gym is nearing completion, and ductwork in the pool building is being installed.
Demolition of the existing pool and renovation of that space for use as the new band/music area is start to begin in March 2013; completion, September 2013.
Auditorium renovations will also begin next March 2013; completion in November 2013. Renovation of the existing orchestra area begins in October 2013; completion May 2014.
