How many places can you go for a full meal for only $5?
Well, the Clinton County Senior Center is one of those places every Monday. On Mondays they have a variety of volunteer cook crews that come in to cook and serve meals to the general public. It is a fundraiser that makes about $6000 for the center each year.
In the February the following meals will be served:
Feb 7: Cabbage Rolls, Vegetable, Roll and Applesauce (cooked by Steve and Ruth Powers and Dave Paksi)
Feb 14: Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Biscuit and Fruit (cooked by Stu Fitzpatrick and Terry Thelen from Century 21 Property Mart)
Feb 21: Turkey, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Vegetable and Cranberries (Cooked by Tyler Barlage from Community Christian Church and other Ministerial Association members)
Feb 28: Slow Cooked Roast Beef, Potatoes, Vegetables and Fruit Salad (cooked by Brenda Terpening from the Chamber of Commerce and Darlene Terpening)
Again, the cost of these complete meals is only $5 – ($6.50 if you get the homemade pie to go along with the meal). If you are not that big of an eater, you can get a sandwich (the kinds change weekly, but things like Chicken Salad, Egg Salad, Sloppy Joes, Ground Bologna, Grilled Cheese, are offered) for $2 or a bowl of homemade soup for $1.50. Again the soups change weekly, but they include kinds like Potato, Brocoli with Cheese, Chili, Chicken Noodle, Vegetable, etc.
The Monday meals are ongoing fundraisers, just like the center’s monthly Bake Sale at Krogers.
The next Bake Sale is scheduled for February 12, starting at 9:00 am. Get there early to get the best variety.
