Need fabrics and more
The Clinton County Senior Center has a couple of way to make money to fund the expenses at their center. They participate in a couple of craft shows each year and run two Gift Shops at their facility.
You can help by donating fabric (cotton, flannel or fleece), quilt batting, thread, ribbon, embroidery floss, stuffing, etc. Those items are passed on to people that will make items such as quilts, pillows, pet blankets, placemats, table runners, etc., for the Senior Center to sell. Or if you want to donate items you have made, those would be most appreciated as well.
The gift shops at the center are open year round and the first craft show in 2014 will be on Saturday, May 10. They will participate in the Chamber of Commerce Springtime Festival at the CC RESA Building at 1013 S US 27 in St. Johns from 9 am to 3 pm.
You can also help by donating new or gently used items such as glassware, nic nacs, decorating items, books and cookbooks, puzzles, jewelry, pictures, magazines, etc., that can be sold in the gift shop or used as bingo prizes. They do not accept clothes, shoes, furniture, luggage, sports equipment, etc. They simply do not have the space for these types of items. You can come and shop at the Senior Center Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
The center is also looking for new or gently used stuffed animals. Some are sold in the gift shop, but most are used for bingo prizes. Bingo is played twice on week on Tuesday’s and Friday’s at 12:30 pm.
Any of the above items can be dropped off at the Senior Center at 201 E Walker Street (corner of Spring and Walker, one block north of M21), or you can call Darlene Terpening at 989-224-6605 to arrange for someone to pick up the items. If you drop off items, please put Terpening’s name on the bag or box.
If you have any questions about other fundraising activities at the Senior Center, contact the fundraising chair Brenda Terpening at 989-224-7248.
