A look at the new Clinton County Animal Shelter

With an album by Maralyn Fink

After much thought and planning, the new animal shelter is up and running, so I decided to visit any furry friends that might be there.
Upon entering the building you are welcomed in the new office area, very spacious, open and lots of windows. Nicely done to my thinking after knowing of the past building. This space is most welcome for the control officers, Cindy and Chris, who could call this “home.”
Camera ready to go, I went to the housing area to see if there were any occupants.
Oh yes, I met some of the nicest dogs who were delighted to see a visitor. After offering a sniffing of my hand, they were ready for some loving and petting, right up my alley. In talking to Cindy, she had lined up some rescues for their guests if unclaimed and hold time of seven days are over.
Moving on, I saw an isolation room, quarantine room, feline room and a treatment room in case of illness. It wouldn’t be complete without a laundry room as there are items that need washing such as bedding, blankets and towels.
This is a very up to date facility, very clean and so much more space for the pets and staff. This is “a dream come true” for our whole community knowing that any pets going through their door are going to be in a state of the art facility while waiting to be reclaimed by their owner or move on to a rescue who will find them a new home.
Please remember to have identification collars on your pets or a microchip. Also, if your pet is lost, please notify animal control of your situation so they can be on the look or notify you if someone has turned your pet in.
I would like to take this time to thank everyone for their donations to the shelter in Memory of my husband, Brian Woodbury, on October 30, 2013. Thank you so much.
