Grade Schoolers and Mint City Singers in dual concert

The St. Johns Area Community Children’s Choir has taken on the name of Vivo Cantando. The group will present its second and final concert of the school year on May 20 at 7:00 pm in the SJMS Auditeria. The event is free to the public.

The Mint City Singers will be sharing the concert. Each choir will sing independently, and they will also sing collaboratively on Yonder Come Day and God Bless America. Other songs include Go Down Moses, Waters Ripple and Flow, Land of the Free, and God Bless America.
Members of Vivo Cantando are Lindsey Edwards, Jordyn Ernst, Onnika Goodrich, Kendall Gunther, Erynn Kohloff, Mariona Montgomery, Gabby Moon, Clara Newman, Emma Parsons, Abigail Payment, Izoa Plumbley, Sammy Richardson, Emily Robbins, Ivy Simmers, Sheena Stock, Neveah Toepler, and Wyatt Wilcox. Accompanist for the choir is Jenny Wilcox.
Members of the Mint City Singers are Carol Malewski, Susan Mahoney, Kelly Bitz, Marlene Chamberlain, Dave Fitzpatrick, Cheryl Gruenberg, Mark Gruenberg, Jim Gunther, Scott Harding, Rita Hoover, Jeanette Huard, Emma Khavari, Cynthia Laich, Tess Miller, Sara Morrison, Don VeCasey, Guven Witteveen, Dawn Wylie, Toni Zimmerman. Dean Jong accompanies the choir.
Ellen Hoard directs both choirs. “I am excited to have the opportunity to create a multigenerational singing experience in St. Johns. My goal is to help build a feeling of community, while also encouraging collaborative singing within families and the community.”
Vivo Cantando is now enrolling for its Fall, 2014 session. Registration information and forms will be sent home from school and are also available at the Briggs Public Library and Clinton County Arts Council Gallery, both in St. Johns.
