Chili, hot cocoa contests highlight 3rd Annual Snow Day

Saturday, January 29
Fourteen and counting, a number greater than last year’s.   That’s a combination of participants already signed up to compete in the chili cook off and hot cocoa contest, two of the events highlighting the agenda for Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary’s third annual “Snow Day at the Emerald.”
“This is exciting,” commented Kathie Clock, co-chair of the event, a position held since its launch three years ago.  “Already we have eleven chili contestants and three contenders with hot cocoa recipes.  Both events promise to be heated challenges.”  No pun intended.

Shirley Hacker, Ann Hufnagel, Cindy Knight and Mary Ann Ellickson are determined that frosty ground won’t interfere with promoting Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary upcoming “Snow Day at the Emerald” Saturday, January 29
But the list of activities doesn’t end with chili and cocoa. It includes such outdoor activities as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking around the Emerald golf course and, of course, the popular late afternoon and evening bonfire.
If you’re an insider, there will be cards and Wii games along with musical entertainment by the Bill Brown band.  “We’re very pleased that Bill has again volunteered his time with us,” commented Ms Clock.   “Bill’s unique style of entertainment lends a spirited setting to this event.”
The first chili contest was won by Robin Motz-Ingalls.   The following year Dean Mazzolini captured the chili honors and the hot chocolate contest was won by Anita Rositas.  Each event created much interest and enthusiasm to the day’s theme.
Tickets to “Snow Day” include not only the offered activities, but also a hot dog, hamburger and fixings dinner along with an open bar.  Where else can you enjoy such a festive setting for only $15.00?
“We’re looking forward to another fun day at the Emerald,” commented Robin Mot- Ingalls. “As with most Auxiliary’s projects, this event is planned with intentions to raise funds for the hospital.  We anticipate this year’s outing will be even more successful that the previous two.”   Ms  Ingalls serves as co-chair with Ms Clock.
Tickets for “Snow Day” may be purchased by contacting Kathie Clock, 989 834-2412, Robin Motz-Ingalls, 989 224-8320 or any Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary member.
