Special Olympics Area 28 (Clinton County) hosted their 9th annual Softball Tournament in St Johns on Saturday, July 25th.

Fourteen softball teams and several skills athletes from around the state participated.

Area 28 softball teams, the Hawks and the Eagles, both captured gold medals. The competition was fierce, the weather was great, and everyone had a wonderful day!

Area 28 wants to thank the St Johns Youth Baseball Association and the Knights of Columbus Councils from St Johns, DeWitt, Fowler and Westphalia for sponsoring the softball tournament. Special Olympics is a year-round sports training and athletic competition program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. All Special Olympics programs and activities are provided at no cost to the athletes and their families. There is no state or federal funding. Area 28 is run strictly by volunteers and relies upon the generosity of contributions.
