Top MSU Coaches vs. Cancer
St. Joseph School in St. Johns was recognized at a Thursday, April 18th reception at Michigan State University’s Breslin Center for being the top MSU Coaches vs. Cancer Home Team Challenge fundraising team from St. Johns.
MSU head basketball coach Tom Izzo welcomed representatives from all of the area’s Coaches vs. Cancer participating schools, who were treated to a tour of the Breslin Center locker rooms, given an opportunity to meet the MSU basketball players, and enjoyed refreshments and a photo and autograph session with Coach Izzo.
St. Joseph School librarian Stephanie Padgett and teacher Cheryl Wieber were thanked by Coach Izzo for the school’s top fundraising efforts this past year.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide effort by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), collaborating to make use of the respect and admiration for coaches at all levels as a means to raise awareness of and support for cancer research, treatment and healthy living habits.
