Campaign needs to get up and running
While you might not be ready to start thinking about Christmas yet, the Toys for Tots campaign needs to get up and running so we can collect enough toys for all the children in need this year. Within the next couple of weeks you will start to see collection boxes appear in many stores, restaurants and police departments. Toys will be collected through December 17 and distributed to hundreds of children in our county by Christmas.
If you want to help, talk to your children and find out the popular things for kids their age – that is what will be on the lists this year. Also, each year the campaign always needs help with gifts for children 13 and over. Some gift ideas for older children include sports shirts, books, desk lamps, CD’s or DVD of recent releases, craft kits, jewelry, etc.
A complete list of all the drop off locations will be published in the next couple of weeks, or you can always bring toys to the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce office at 1013 S US 27 in St. Johns. If you would like to make a financial contribution you can mail it to Toys for Tots – Clinton County, PO Box 61, St Johns MI 48879. All donations are forwarded to the Toys for Tots Foundation and then those funds are available to use only in Clinton County if purchases are needed.
If you are a family that needs help with toys for Christmas, call the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce at 989-224-7248 or email them at ccchamber@power-net.net. You will be asked to complete a request form. If you are receiving help with toys from an agency such as Capital Area Community Services, Work of Heart, etc, do not complete an additional separate form.
If you have questions about the 2012 Toys for Tots program, contact county coordinator Brenda Terpening at 989-224-7248.
