Fred Meijer CIS Trail news

Help! We are almost there
First, a little background:
The total projected cost of the Fred Meijer Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee Trail is $5,280,000.
Most of that $5,280,000 has been raised – by state and federal grants, by private grants, by YOUR generous donations (thank you!), and lastly, by support from the local communities.
As part of the local community fund raising effort, the Department of Natural Resources has asked each county, city, village and township along the 42 mile corridor to invest in our trail by making a monetary pledge. The DNR’s goal was to raise $120,000. They are only $15,000 short.
Almost all of the communities along the trail have made generous pledges. Only three townships have not yet committed any monies to the trail: Ovid, Bengal and Middlebury.
We need your help – but we are Not asking for money – just a moment of your time.
Please ask the officials of these townships to pony-up to the table and do what their fellow communities have already done. Send them a letter or e-mail (see addresses below) or attend one of their township meetings to promote their monetary support of the trail.
If you have any friends or relatives living in these areas ask them to step up and assist us with this cause.
It is You that can make this forty two mile trail a reality. We are so close; be our hero!
