Residents doing something about the weather in Clinton County

Don’t like the weather in Michigan?
Then sing about it! Twenty-eight Clinton County residents are handling the winter doldrums by rehearsing for Homegrown Productions’ Doing Something About the Weather. Performances of the musical comedy variety show are March 11-13 at the Wilson Center Auditorium at 101 W. Cass St. in St. Johns.

Ariana Balogh and her Mom Marci perform a skit about what to do when the weather keeps you indoors.

“Instead of complaining when the winter weather gets nasty, (Homegrown Productions partner) Beth Webb and I decided to give people something more uplifting to do,” said Susan DeRosa, writer and director of the show. “A couple dozen people responded to our call for talent. We’re rehearsing for three weeks and we’re building a great show.”

Jim Gunther, Karen Crosby and Dean Feldpausch are keeping on the sunny side of life.
The show combines songs, dance and comedy skits and every act has something to do with the weather. There will even be a visit from a famous weather commentator.
Performances are at 7:30 pm on March 11 and 12 and 2:00 pm on March 13. Admission is $10.00 at the door.

Susan Mahoney and Darryl Schmitz play a married couple just trying to get through the winter.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go toward renovations at the Wilson Center Auditorium. Since 2006, performances at the Wilson Center Auditorium and donations to the renovation fund have resulted in new, comfortable seating, a new color scheme and improved sound equipment in the auditorium.
