As a result of the one vote difference between Bruce DeLong and Paul McNamara for the Clinton County Commissioner District 3 position, a request for a recount was made Thursday by McNamara.
“In speaking with the County Clerk I was informed that there is not an automatic recount in close elections”, he explained. “Consequently, it seemed most important that a recount be conducted to insure the will of the people is being carried out”.
“There is no thought of any wrong-doing on anyone’s part” said McNamara. “It is just the reasonable assumption that human error could have taken place which would have a definite impact on the outcome”, he said. “The will of the people needs to be followed and I am ready to accept the outcome of such a recount no matter who ends up winning. That is our system, whoever receives the most votes wins”.
