Get moving at the Sparrow Clinton Fitness Center

March 2 Winter Warm-Up event
St. Johns joins eight Greater Lansing area communities in the 10th annual Winter Warm-Up, featuring the Blues Community Challenge. The local event takes place Saturday, March 2, from 11am to 1 pm at the Sparrow Clinton Hospital Rehabilitation and Fitness Center in the Southpoint Mall off Old 27.
On March 2, Sparrow Clinton Hospital Fitness Center hosts 15-minute mini-classes for adults in Spin, Zumba, Pilates, Step Aerobics, Yoga Lite, and Power Yoga. Children’s activities include 15-minute mini-sessions of jump rope and body weight exercises, kid’s yoga, hula hoops and plyos, and scooters and dumbbells.
March 2 Winter Warm-Up participants also can have their blood pressure and BMI checked, access information on healthy lifestyle and good nutrition options, and receive vouchers for a $10 glucose and cholesterol check at Sparrow Clinton Hospital laboratory. While supplies last, every participant registered through the Winter Warm-up program will receive a free water bottle.
Winter Warm-Up, a free eight-week program sponsored by Community Partners in Health, began Jan. 19 and runs through March 23. It encourages local residents to make a commitment to healthy living and being active.
Competing community teams log minutes of physical activity during the program, which are converted to miles. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan awards grants to all participating communities, which can be used for health and wellness projects. Communities whose residents log the most miles and have the most active participants receive larger grants.
Register for the 2013 Winter Warm-Up on the Community Partners in Health website at www.cphlansing.com any time during the eight-week program. Weekly events and prize drawings will take place throughout the tri-county area – check the community calendar on the CPH website.
