What do I think?

by Barry Blauer
I hate it when I hear noises I shouldn’t be hearing. Take our car for example, we bought it new in 1999 and it just turned 50,000 on the odometer. It was side swiped by a deer once on our way back from Lansing after picking up my sister-in-law at the airport and had both bumpers replaced due to minor accidents and yet it still looks like new. Inside and out. It’s only one car wash from looking showroom ready.
I kept hearing a chirping noise coming from the engine compartment. We even went as far as making an appointment with the garage only to find out the chirping went away after the car warmed up so we cancelled the appointment.
I finally decided that we needed to take the car to the garage and leave it overnight so they could hear that same noise in the morning. They also heard the noise.
I thought it was just the serpentine belt but it turned out to be more then that. The water pump was leaking fluid on the belt and the intake manifold gasket was also leaking. We had problems with gaskets on this engine before. A lower manifold gasket was leaking a few years ago and it cost us over $600 to get that replaced because they said there was no warrantee.
I got on the internet and found out there was a class action law suit against GM for that very problem and we ended up getting about seventy-five percent of our money back.
The bill this time came to $1700 and some change which has sent me to the internet again to see if there’s another class action law suit or even a hidden warrantee but so far I’ve had no luck. Maybe because GM has gone through a government funded bankruptcy we out of luck.
Will I buy another GM product? Only if they put in writing that any gasket failure I might encounter down the road will be covered.

I still get a kick about how the mainstream media handles the man residing in the White House. Kennedy (a Democrat) was a womanizer and whenever Jackie was gone for a few days the front door of the White House became a revolving door to prostitutes, staff secretaries, and a whole list of other women including a famous Hollywood actress. The press knew of this but sat on it to protect the president.
Nixon (a Republican) tries to cover up a dumb decision to go with the Watergate break in and the press feeds on it like a pack of wild dogs. End results, Nixon has to resign.
Clinton (another womanizer) has a history of affairs before being elected president and of course the famous, “I didn’t have sex with that woman,” event in the Oval Office and survived what little the press reported.
Bush (a Republican) had no friends in the mainstream media. They got all over him. They loved to replay Bush’s gaffes over and over again.
Oblama (a Democrat) gets a free pass from the press. They’re not interested in where he came from or how he got there. Oblama had an insignificant short career as a senator from Chicago and got himself elected as president. Why?
They got all over Romney (a Republican candidate for president) for taking a trip with the family dog strapped to the roof of the vehicle in a carrier as if that was a crime. From what I’ve seen in my lifetime, dogs love to travel in a vehicle with their heads stuck out the window. Many of us remember a St. Bernard riding in the back of a pickup driving around town.
See a pattern here?

And Furthermore:
I have but one question remaining in life. Who put Oblama in the White House and I’m not talking about the voters?
Alex Karras passed away. He was a defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions from 1958 to 1970. I remember him standing on the field with his head hanging down right after Tom Dempsey, New Orleans kicker, kicked that famous sixty-three yard field goal against them to win the game. He also played Mongo in the movie, “Blazing Saddles,” we’re going to miss that old fart.
Unless Verlander is off his game tonight I want a Detroit Tigers fan to jump out of the stands and tackle the manager, Jim Leyland, if he comes out of the dugout to make a pitching change.
I want them to return to a coal-fired furnace in the White House. That way Oblama will have a better understanding of what his energy polices are doing to this nation. Despite what some people think, we have to keep warm in the winter by any means. Like it or not.
Until the next time . . .
