What do I think?

Quick thoughts:
Are we fighting for our freedoms abroad and losing our independence at home?
Will we be responsible for Iraq and Afghanistan until the end of recorded time and if we do pull out, will they go right back to their old ways?
Barack Obama isn’t the 2nd coming of Christ . . . he’s the second coming of Jimmy Carter, we might as well get used to it.
Has the federal government’s bureaucracy become so complicated they can’t protect us from any threat to our country?
Did the Senate hearings to confirm or not to confirm Elena Kagan as the next Supreme Court Justice do what it appears they did which is to play straight man to Kagan’s jokes? I thought this stuff was supposed to be serious.
27,000 capped oil wells in the Gulf of Mexico . . . why?
Can we get rid of the arrogance our elected legislators seem to have nowadays? They’re out campaigning for re-election when they should be tending to the business of the people.

I’ve watched my share of Detroit Lions football games on TV and I always watch with interest whenever they make a head coaching change which has been quite often. Seems like every one of them are introduced to us as having something called, “The Plan.” It’s something about winning we’re guessing, but we don’t know anymore.
The plan? Why the hell didn’t the last coach have the plan?
The new guy moves into the recently vacated head coach’s office. A nice room but he’ll need family pictures on the desk and maybe a big one of the owner on the wall behind the desk. In his office he will go about implementing the plan but he won’t be able to make many changes to the team; after all, he’s stuck with the same lousy football players the last coach had. Most of them never did quite make the jump to pros.
We had our share of no name, no good coaches. Guys like Rick Forzano and Tommy Hudspeth. Remember those guys? Neither one of them lasted long.
I don’t think the plan’s suitable for the Lions right now so we’ll need something other than the plan. I got it! I got it! We need some good ballplayers.

To the best of my recollection, I’ve never read a book by a woman author. Well . . . I’m reading one now. Male chauvinist? Hell no.
It’s a book Betty found in the den and neither of us remembers where it came from. Maybe it’s something one of our daughters left behind. Anyway, I needed something to read while I waited for a shipment of new books.
The book is titled, “The Honk and Holler Opening Soon,” and written by Billie Letts. The title is what caught my eye. Probably because of my interest in restaurants which came from my Grandmother who used to run one called, “B and B.” That’s not Bauer, it’s Bigelow.
The book starts out well enough so I’ll continue reading it even though my shipment of new books arrived today (Wednesday). Meanwhile, I’m going to check on some good reading ahead of time instead of waiting until I run out. I can’t depend on finding anymore unread books lying around the house.
Until the next time . . .
