What do I think?

Part of a verse in the Bible reads:

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.

I don’t know about the rest of it but I can vouch for old men dreaming dreams.
When I was younger my worst dream was about the Boogeyman in the basement while my dad was asleep in the chair and I couldn’t wake him up. I found out a few years later what that meant. From there I went into dreams about the Mummy. We watched the movie, at the old Northside Drive-in starring Boris Karloff, and he chased me around almost nightly after that.
Now that I’m an old man I’m into frustrating dreams. Usually I’m at Federal-Mogul and I just wander around the shop while everybody’s working, I keep thinking I should get to work but I can’t get going.
I think the message is . . . I don’t belong in Federal-Mogul anymore.

I’ve become a fan of Bret Michaels. Not so much because he’s a music star but because of what he’s been through and how he’s handled it. He’s a very strong person.
I admire those people.
Never mind that I wonder what’s under his handkerchief head wrap. If he’s as bald as an eagle, as we’ve seen with Andre Agassi, so be it. It doesn’t take away from the person.
I learned a lot about Michaels when I watch the “Celebrity Apprentice” show which he won. The guy seems to know how to work with people. He’s actually become more of a celebrity since his health problems and is now making the tour of the talk shows.
More power to him.

I just finished reading Nicholas Sparks’ book, “A Safe Haven,” and came away thinking that over all, it was a good book. I hated most of the ending because it kept dragging on. I knew the guy was going to do something but I didn’t know what. When was the author going to cut him loose, I wondered?
The ending was a total surprise to me and that’s what kept me reading. I love endings like that. The mysterious friend was revealed.
Was it a good ending or wasn’t it? You need to read the book for yourself.
My next book, “Hell’s Corner” by David Baldacci.

A few thoughts:
We (Detroit Lions) need to draft another quarterback prospect next spring. It appears that Matthew Stafford can’t even fall down without hurting himself. That’s sad because the kid’s got talent.
Has the St. Johns School Board solved the problem with bullying at the Eureka elementary school, or is it still a news media/communications problem? Believe me; I’m aware that people are plenty upset about this.
It’s amazing how many deer I’ve seen this year when I have a camera and not a gun. Do you suppose I’m going to go hungry this winter?
I would have liked it better if George W. Bush kissed his horse and just rode off into the sunset instead of writing a book that further increases our doubts about him as president. He may not have surrounded himself with truly smart people. A smart man would have done that. Even I know better. I would have surrounded myself with smarter people than me and “borrowed” their knowledge.
You learn by watching others.
Because of Bush, waterboarding is back in the news. How far would you go to save your life? How far do you want somebody else to go to save your life? Tough question isn’t it . . . or is it not?
Until the next time . . .
