Gas Prices, Parenting, and Short Thoughts
by Barry Bauer
I think gas prices ought to go to $7.00 a gallon or whatever it takes to get people to go occupy the nation’s Capitol instead of Wall Street which is currently a waste of time. Government has failed on energy every since Carter created the Energy Dept. which is nothing but a sinkhole for taxpayer’s hard earned dollars. The department was created to make us energy independent which is hasn’t done nor can it do because of environmentalist and the government beauracracy.
The current situation is contrived and not something dropped on us from Heaven. Had we started back when Carter said we would we’d be energy independent and would have told the Arabs to go to hell by now.
Do you think any politician cares enough to do that? Hell no! They have special interest groups they have to serve first.
Oblama keeps talking about his Green Energy program and it’s falling apart. Why? He doesn’t have a market for this crap. Who wants to spend extra money buying a car that goes 30 miles on a battery charge and then you have to charge it up again overnight. That wouldn’t even take us from St. Johns to Lansing and back before you’d have to depend on the gas engine to get you back home again. Then we’ll have to charge it with electricity produced by a coal fired power plant. Isn’t that supposed to be bad?
They’ve halted production of the Volt, a highly touted vehicle by the government, because nobody wants it. That doesn’t seem to matter to Oblama. He has an agenda.
As far as solar panels, they wouldn’t do much good in Michigan and nobody wants a wind turbine in their backyard. People are already complaining about the number of birds being killed by the turbines. Besides, with wind turbines you get electricity when the wind blows and when the wind dies down you get nothing. So far they can’t store it.
Maybe Oblama can stuff some algae in his limousine’s gas tank and see how far he gets out of town. Or maybe they can put a bank of squirrel cages in the limo seeing as we got a zillion squirrels in this country.
We’re getting so dumb in this country that I can’t believe it.

I’m a lucky father. We raised our three daughters to go out into the World, take care of themselves, and make a difference if they can. They’ve done that and more. On the other hand, my Dad told me, “See ya later, Bub,” and left town. That’s what he used to call me and that’s basically what he said to me. My family life was over at age eleven and I cried like a baby at the old Courthouse when I learned that but a few years later I was able to begin again and take back what belonged to me.
They can’t keep ol’ bauer down for long.
So the point of all of this? I’m not sure the parents have as much to do with the success of the child as the child does itself. We can guide them but we can’t think for them.
They are not an exact copy of either one of their parents but hopefully a combination of the best of both parents. There are those times kids turn out pretty good in spite of their parents.

Short Thoughts:
Either Oblama is the biggest liar we’ve ever had as president, or he’s the most misinformed.
I still have our snow blower sitting right by the overhead door in the garage because I don’t believe winter is over with yet – this is Michigan!
I think a least three of the Republican candidates running for president should be given a loaded gun so they can shoot themselves in the foot and get it over with once and for all.
My college basketball brackets have been busted which happens to me every year. I won’t quit until I win one but the competition keeps getting tougher every year.
Until the next time . . .
