Family Dog, War on Poverty, and Short Thoughts
by Barry Blauer
I like Dave Letterman’s late show more than any of them, but I don’t agree with his politics. He’s obviously a Liberal. He’s been hammering away at Mitt Romney about taking a long family trip with their dog strapped to the roof of the car in a carrier. Dave’s hammering has pretty much been nightly and quite frankly getting tiresome.
Would Dave prefer that the dog rode in the trunk?
Then somebody looked into Oblama’s autobiography. Turns out Oblama ate dog in his youth. They didn’t mention whether it was once or how often it happened. Eating what we consider to be domestic animals and pets is quite common overseas. You can add cats to that list. The reason why I separated them from pets is you can have a cat but you don’t own one.
So I was anxious to watch this week and see what Dave did and sure enough he brought up the dog thing. He just doesn’t give up.
I should mention that here in St. Johns there was a guy driving a pickup around town with a Saint Bernard riding in the box. I’ll bet that guy couldn’t leave home without that dog jumping in the back of the truck to go for a ride. The dog obviously loved it.

I just read an article about the “War on Poverty” that was enacted under the Johnson administration back in the mid-1960s. A few trillion dollars and almost fifty years later there’s still a war on poverty only it’s been a failure. The question is, why?
The article estimated that the government spends $20,000 on individuals and $60,000 families trying to raise them above the poverty level. The only trouble with this is that the humungous government bureaucracy has to feed at the trough before anybody in need gets a dime. What does that leave for the people this program is suppose to help?
Will they ever win the war on poverty? Nope. It’s estimated the 50% of the population currently gets government assistance. Once that number moves even further the system will break down. A pyramid cannot stand on its head. Check out Europe and what’s going on there.
Oblama, Socialism doesn’t work so take that idea with you when you retire January 20, 2013.

Short Thoughts:
What happens when the things you can’t do in this country far outnumbers the things you can? Will that satisfy your needs as a human being?
I asked my dentist if he dreaded his dentist appointments. He smiled and said, “Sometimes.”
When will the time come when the Black community raises more hell about Black on Black crime (much bigger problem) than they do Hispanic or White on Black crime? By the same standards that labels Oblama black even though his mother was white, George Zimmerman is Latino because his mother was Peruvian.
Is it still racism when it’s a minority on minority crime?
I make no claims to being religious, but I’m always curious about it. Even when the Bible talks about Cain slaying Abel I’ve never heard much about their wives. Apparently Cain married his sister (who else was there?) and there’s no record of Abel ever being married having died early in his life at the hands of his brother. Only after the big flood did incest become the health problem we know it to be today. At least that’s what I read.
Our oldest grandson, Nolan, is graduating from Home School this year. He got high scores on his state tests and has a scholarship to the Great Lakes Christian College majoring in music. We’ve very proud of his parents for raising such a fine young man.
Until the next time . . .
