Melissa J. Faull

faull_melissaMelissa J. Faull, 53 of Fowler, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Sparrow Clinton Hospital. Melissa was born on November 7, 1962 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Walter and Nellie (Sillman) Nobis. Melissa was a graduate of Fowler High School in 1980 and on August 22, 1992 she married Andrew Faull. She worked as a graphic artist, organist, piano teacher and was choir director at St. Paul Lutheran Church and very involved with all activities at St. Paul Lutheran Church, active in Right to Life activities and enjoyed quilt making.

Melissa is survived by her husband, Andrew and siblings Steven Nobis of St. Johns, Cynthia Hilton of Midland, Texas and Bonnie Nobis of Fowler; 10 nieces and 22 great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fowler on Sunday, April 24, 2016,2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Paul Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul Church or St Paul Lutherans for Life.

Phillip W. DeMarais

demarais_phillipPhillip W. DeMarais, 79 of rural St. Johns, MI died on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Sparrow Hospital. Phillip was born on December 29, 1936 to Ira and Beatrice DeMarais. He graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1956 and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. On July 1, 1961 he married Sharon M. Pearson in St. Johns, MI. Phil was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DAV, VFW Honor Guard, played cards, enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions, U of M. football, watching westerns on TV and being with his 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He had worked at Clinton County Road Commission until he retired in 1994.

Survivors are his wife Sharon, children Annette Lintemuth, Kevin (Karen) DeMarais, and Lyn (Paul) Searles. Grandchildren, Trent (Kayla) Lintemuth, Miriah (Brandon) Lintemuth, Andrew (Elani) Searles, Haley (Keith) DeMarais, Breana (Ira) DeMarais, Jacob Searles, Shaye Lintemuth and Devin DeMarais. 2 great grandchildren, Jackson and Seth Lintemuth. Phil was survived by sister, Ardith Taylor; and his twin sister, Phyllis “Tiny” Trefil. He was preceded in death by his parents and baby brother, Arvid DeMarais.

Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Thursday, April 21, 2016, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Military Honors will be provided by St. Johns Honor Guard.


Christine L. Rahl-Letts

Christine L. Rahl-Letts, age 45, died April 19, 2016. Mrs. Rahl-Letts was born April 2, 1971 in Lansing, was a member of Life Christian Church and was a child day care worker.

Surviving are her husband, Jeremy; son, Noah Michael Rahl-Letts; mother, Barbara (Michael) Szkolnicki; father, Theodore Rahl; brothers, Jason Rahl, Thede Rahl, Jeremy Rahl and Kevin Miesner; brothers-in-law, Lucas Letts and Jammie (Erica) Letts; uncle, Mike (Cathy) McKay; several nieces and nephews.

Services 1 P.M. Thursday at Life Christian Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for her son, Noah. Arrangements by Field & Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale.


Ella Long

long_ellaReta Ellen Long of DeWitt, Michigan passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at the age of 85. She was born January 28, 1931 the daughter of Barney and Mary Cerny. She was an extremely warm and loving person who devoted her life to family. Ella and Ronald Long celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary during January 2016.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Long, and sons Ron (Olga), Rick (Sherry) and Randy (Dawn); nine grandchildren, one great grandson; four sisters, Wilma Stambersky, Irene Chovance, Mildred Chapko, Gladys Patrick and one brother, James Cerny. She was preceded in death by siblings John Cerny, Pauline Bocek, Charlie Cerny and Frank Cerny.

Private services have been held. The family is being served by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home.


Henrietta Ruth Weber

weber_henriettaHenrietta Ruth “Tootie” Weber, age 79, of Fowler, MI passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Hospice House of Mid Michigan, Lansing, MI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI. Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Tootie was born in Fowler, Michigan on March 14, 1937, the daughter of Edward and Eleanor (Halfman) Kramer. Tootie married Mark Louis Weber on October 25, 1955 in Fowler, MI. Tootie enjoyed playing cards and selling raffle tickets. She loved spending time with her family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tootie was the family member that always kept track of her family and community happenings. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a lifetime member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI.

She is survived by her husband Mark Weber of Fowler, 10 children, 29 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dennis Weber and six brothers.

Rose Mary Staines

staines_rosemaryMom reunited with our Dad this morning, Friday April 15, 2016 at Hazel Findlay Country Manor. She was born February 27, 1920 to Carlton and Lois (Rose) Kimball in Lansing, MI. She was a homemaker. She married William Charles Staines, November 19, 1941 and then became a mom to a son, Douglas (Kathy) Dean Staines and a daughter, Julie (Chuck) Peters. She sold Avon and was a breast cancer survivor. She loved to hunt and fish in her day and was a friend to many. She was a member of the St. Johns Free Methodist Church for many years.

Dad passed March 7, 1991 but she is survived by her children and their spouses, grandchildren, Dawn (Staines) Parrish (Jim Smith), Shannon Parras, Joshua (Heidi) Courser and Charlie Peters. She also is survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth, Tabitha, William, Jamie, Jasmine, Dalton, Dallas, Memphis and Jaxon and many nieces and nephews. She also had two brothers, Richard and C. L. that passed before her.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from noon until service time which is 2:00 P.M. with Amy Latimer officiating. Burial will be at Wacousta Cemetery. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.


Lillie Mazel Freeman

freeman_lillieLillie Mazel Freeman, age 64, of St. Johns, MI passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Dave Leisman officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.


Donna M. Shane

shane_donnaDonna M. Shane died Wednesday, April 12, 2016 at the age of 86. She was born in Grand Ledge, MI October 21, 1929 the daughter of David and Wilma (McNutt) Baker. She was a former member of First Congregational Church in St. Johns, Clinton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Clinton County Country Club. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of a league for several years and currently was a member of the Elks Lodge. On October 28, 1950 she married Harold Shane O.D. and he preceded her in death in September 2013. Donna and Harry spent many years at their cottage on Houghton Lake where they enjoyed the company of family and many friends.

Surviving is one daughter Sue (Greg) Crawley; one son, Jim (Laura) Shane; grandchildren Jeff and Meg Campbell-Crawley, Danielle and Chris Cole, Kristen and Michael Bullock, Michael Shane and fiancée Daisy Kim; four great grandchildren and one brother, Jim Baker.

The family will receive relatives and friends during a time of fellowship and celebration of Donna’s life on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.
