Justin E. Schmitz

Justin “Judd” E. Schmitz died Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the age of 85. He was born October 15, 1935 in Bengal Township, MI the son of Peter and Catherine (Feldpausch) Schmitz. Justin was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler. He served in the US Army and is a member of VFW Post 14000.

During his working career “Judd” was a tool and die maker and retired from the Demmer Corp. in 1996 with 28 years of service. In July of 1961 he married Sharon Evans and she preceded him death earlier this year in May.

Surviving are three sons, Dennis (Vicki), Gary (Debra) and David (Melissa); ten grandchildren, Jacob, Shannon, Joseph, Alex, Logan, Justin P., Gordon, Theresa, Henry and Zoey; one sister, Eunice (Clare) Pung and three brothers, Hilary (Marcia), Pete (Marsha), and Maurice (Darlene). He was also predeceased by a son, Joseph, sisters, Agnes Faivor, Frieda Bauer, Stella Kinny, and Eletha Schmitz and brothers, Stanley, Donald and Richard Schmitz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler with Rev. Fr. Bill Lugger as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday, October 26 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 2111 University Park Dr., Suite 200, Okemos, MI 48864.


Joni Linn Singletary

Joni Linn Singletary died Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the age of 61. She was born October 25, 1958 in Eaton Rapids, MI the daughter of Jack and Maxine (Pitcher) Stone. Most recently she worked for Quality Dairy Co. in the maintenance department. This past August she married Bradley Niklas and he survives her.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jo Elaine “Joey” (Joshua) Birkey and Jennifer (Terry) Winstead; one son, Jeramie (Kelly) Singletary; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren and four sisters, Annette Adams, Gloria McFadden, Jo Elaine Johnson and Diane (Mark) Criss. She was preceded in death by her parents and twin brother Jack Stone.

Following Joni’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services. The family was assisted with these arrangements by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.


John L. Moon

John L. Moon died Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the age of 77. He was born October 12, 1943 in Detroit, MI the son of Robert and Marion “Jeannie” (Yerly) Moon. John enjoyed hunting and fishing and trips to the Upper Peninsula. During his working career he had several jobs and he was never one to sit still for very long. He worked for Brinks Armored Car for 29 years and for the State of Michigan at the Ionia Correctional Facility for 12 years and during those years he worked part time as a mail carrier and for the Kroger Company part time for over 45 years. In May of 1966 he married Teala Besko and she survives him.

Also surviving are four sons, Thomas (Jennifer) of Virginia, Timothy (Heidi) of Indiana, Michael (Michelle) of Texas and Matthew (Amy) of Indiana; five grandchildren, Hannah, Rachael, Kayla, Morgan and Alaina; one sister, Barbara Lewis and four brothers, Gary (Judy), Randy, Ron (Valerie) and Robert.

A graveside funeral service for John will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 26, 2020 at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns with Chaplain Stephen Ezop officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, October 25 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. Anna May White

Anna May White died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the age of 88. She was born April 2, 1932 in Kenton, Ohio the daughter of Omer and Dorothy (Smith) Roby. Anna worked as a matron and cook for the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department in Waterloo, Iowa for over 16 years retiring in 1993.

She married Lee A. White on January 14, 1967 and he preceded her in death in 1990. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Surviving is a great niece, Karen (William) Bond of St. Johns and numerous other great nieces and nephews.

Following Anna’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services. The family was assisted with these arrangements by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.
