Darlene M. Lawrence
Darlene M. Lawrence, age 81 of St. Johns passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Grace Haven Assisted Living.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 20 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the service.
Darlene was born on October 6, 1939 to Robert and Maxine (Locher) Smit in St. Johns. She graduated with the Rodney B. Wilson High School Class of 1957. Darlene married Gary Lawrence on January 5, 1957; they celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Darlene worked for the St. Johns Public Schools for over 30 years. During her life she enjoyed gardening, crafting, sewing, and quilting. Darlene loved spending her winters in Florida with her husband and playing Hand and Foot and Dominoes and cardio drumming there. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Gary Lawrence; her daughters, Michelle (Rocky) Craig, Corinne (Troy) Trimbach, Lynette (John) Quigley, and Lisa (Tom) Ferguson; her grandchildren, Jeremy Craig, Nicole (Steve) Hurt, Darcie Pohl, Andy (Kara) Huss, Alexis Villarreal, Steven (Galina) Villarreal, Sarah Villarreal, Rob (Chyane) Quigley, Caitlyn (Steve) Wolfe, Michael (Leslie) Swagart, Brandon (Abby) Swagart, and RaeLynne Ferguson; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Allan (Sharon)Lawrence and Roger (Karen) Schultz; sisters, Lana Hardman and Janie (Stan) Suchowesky; and sister-in-law, Janet (Bill) Good. She is predeceased by her parents.
Thomas E. Goff
Thomas E. Goff, age 84 of Owosso, formerly of St. Johns, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Owosso with Fr. Michael O’Brien officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.with the Rosary prayed at 7 P.M.
Thomas was the son of Earl L. and Margaret E. (Hagan) Goff born in Owosso, MI on November 1, 1936. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Owosso. He was a graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School class of 1955 in St. Johns.
Tom was employed by Federal Mogul as a press operator for over 33 years, retiring in1992. He was also a member of the St. Johns Volunteer Fire Department from 1967 through 1981, obtaining the rank of Captain, as well as serving in the position of Fire Marshall. Tom also attended one of the earliest State of Michigan EMT classes through Lansing Community College. He earned a spot on the Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Ambulance in 1972. He did this while helping Van and Helen Hoag at Hoag Funeral Home in St. Johns as an EMT and funeral assistant. At one time, ambulance services were provided by the funeral homes.
He was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus at Owosso Council 1139. He was also a member of the Alert Fire Association and enjoyed playing donkey basketball at fundraisers for the St. Johns Volunteer Fire Department. He also enjoyed all things hunting, fishing and bird watching. He was a big supporter of his children’s and grand children’s dance and sporting events. But his special joys in life were times spent with his family, extended family and friends.
Tom married Dolores (Doyle) Byrnes on August 8, 1981 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Owosso and she survives him, He is also survived by children, Lori (Gary) Kunkle, Patrick (Chery) Goff, Craig (Mary Lynn) Goff, Kathie (Brook) Clock, Lawrence (Melodee) Goff; step-sons, Michael (Lilly) Byrnes, Jeff (Doreen) Byrnes, Rick (Kelly) Byrnes; 20 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and step grandchildren; sister, Patricia “Pat” Zuker; sisters-in-law, Betty (Roy) Zambiasi and Joan (Gary) Bailey; many nieces, nephews and loving friends. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Marlene “Sam” Hopko, brothers-in-law John Hopko and Kenneth Zuker.

Walter Hoover Currier, Jr.
Walter Hoover Currier, Jr., age 57, of DeWitt, MI, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, at Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor, MI.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a future date.
Walter was born in Ludington, MI on June 9, 1964, the son of Walter and Patricia (Robins) Currier.
Wally worked in the traveling amusement industry all over MI. He enjoyed going to flea markets. Most of all Wally loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother Patricia Currier of Harrison, MI, life partner Sybil Wagar of DeWitt, MI, children: Walter Currier III of Gladwin, MI, Jessica and Ron Buxton of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Matthew and Jessie LaForge of St. Ignace, MI, Andrew LaForge of PA, Leah Azure and Lane of St. Johns, MI, Siera Maxwell of Manton, MI,siblings: Raymond Currier of Harrison, MI, Rose Schell of Harrison, MI, David Currier of Newberry, MI and Terry Currier of Harrison, MI. He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, sisters: Cheryl Currier, Karen Currier, brother Fred Currier and niece Holli Schell.

Mark Rowland Lowe
Mark Rowland Lowe, of Maple Rapids, died on Friday, August 13, 2021. He was 60 years old.
Mark was born on September 17, 1960 in St. Johns, Michigan, one of six children born to Rowland and Lois (Chick) Lowe. He grew up in Maple Rapids and graduated from Fulton High School. Mark had a big heart. He would do anything for his family and treasured time spent with his nieces and nephews. He loved nature, gardening and watching the wildlife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rowland and Lois Lowe and is survived by his five sisters, Heather (Bill) Carr of Wyoming, MI, Amy (Ron) Ryan of St. Johns, Bona (Jim) Henry, Carol (Randal) Ryan and Kelly (Mitch) Leiby all of Maple Rapids, MI, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A Graveside Service will be held at Sowle Cemetery, Essex Center and Island Rd, St. Johns on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 1 PM. Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating.

Anne K. Thelen
Anne K. Thelen, age 93 of DeWitt, formerly of Saginaw and St. Johns, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, Michigan at 11:00 A. M. on Monday, August 16, 2021. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery in St. Johns. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel. A Vigil Service will be on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Anne was born in St. Johns, Michigan on January 12, 1928, the daughter of Matthew and Genevieve (Medo) Kudella. She married Donald W. Thelen on May 9, 1953; they were blessed with 56 years of marriage prior to his passing on June 12, 2009. Anne was a secretary with the Saginaw Township Schools for 19 years and retired in May of 1990. She lived most of her life in St. Johns and Saginaw before moving to DeWitt and East Lansing, MI.
She is survived by two sons: Michael E. and Laurie Thelen of Powell, Ohio; and David M. and Dawn Thelen of DeWitt, MI; four grandchildren: Christopher and Karen Thelen, Kristin Thelen, David and Katherine Thelen, II and Katrina and Anthony Salvador. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant sons: Baby Thelen and Timothy Richard Thelen, four sisters: Mary Jane Malone, Ethyl Grycan, Marguerite Sovis, and Helene Katulski and three brothers: Elmer, Joseph, and Stephen Kudella.
