Mark Anthony Rosner

Mark Anthony Rosner, a lifelong resident of St. Johns, Michigan died at his home on November 30, 2021 at the age of 61.

Mark was born in Lansing on September 30, 1960, the son of Eton and Mary Rosner, and grew up in St. Johns where he was a graduate of St. Johns High School. He later graduated from ITT in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and enjoyed his career in electronic security.

In 1992 he married Lisa Ohlemacher and together were blessed with two sons. Mark loved his farm and home in the country where he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and canning vegetables, especially his famous pickled beets.

In addition to his beloved wife Lisa, he is survived by his sons, John Rosner and Joseph (Katie) Rosner; brothers, Rudy (Mary) Rosner and George (Pam) Rosner; twin sisters, Martha (Doug) Ryckman, Mary Rosner, and many extended family members and dear friends.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Parkway, St. Johns, on Friday, December 3, from 4-7 PM.


Donna Fay Allen


Donna Fay Allen, a long time resident of Ovid, died on November 29, 2021 at the age of 83.

Donna was born in Eureka, Michigan on August 31, 1938, the daughter of D.O. Wakefield and Georgia Thompson Wakefield. Donna retired from Toledo Commutator after thirty-six years of service and also enjoyed over thirty years as a hostess at The Wheel Inn Restaurant in St. Johns. She loved people, was always willing to help others, and loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Mead) Hyde and husband Emerson Hyde of Mason, Michigan, and two sons, Mike Mead and wife Lisa Mead of Elsie, Michigan and Pat Mead and wife Angie Mead of Hudsonville, Michigan; three grandchildren, Megan (Kevin) Adams, Makayla Mead, Terry (Katrina) Evans, four great grandchildren, and her brother, Ronald (Sue) Wakefield. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jeanette Gruesbeck.

A Funeral Service will be held at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Parkway, St. Johns, on Friday, December 3, at 2 PM with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday, from 12 Noon until the time of service.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Dementia Society of America.


Lauchlin Walter-Shearer MacGregor, Jr.

Lauchlin Walter-Shearer MacGregor, Jr., age 73, of East Lansing, MI, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at The Marquette, East Lansing.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 10, 2021, with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens, Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Lauchlin was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on October 27, 1948, the son of Lauchlin Walter-Shearer and Bernice Pauline (Hotchkiss) MacGregor. Lauchlin was a civil engineer and retired from the State of Michigan. He loved attending CMU football games and his “grape” juice. A passion of his was natural health. Lauchlin was a kid at heart and loved celebrating life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his daughter Kristin and Erik Koglin of Murfreesboro,TN; son Lauchlin and Jennifer MacGregor of DeWitt, MI; grandchildren: Victoria and Nathan Hight, Alexandra Koglin, Joshua Koglin, Kenna MacGregor, Lauchlin MacGregor IV, and Elizabeth MacGregor; siblings: Susan and John Jones, Timothy and Kristin MacGregor, Edward and Laura MacGregor, Cindy and Todd Greenlee, James and Janette MacGregor, and Michael and Tracey MacGregor. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jeffrey Thomas Howe

Jeffrey Thomas Howe, previously of DeWitt, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at his home in Tagum, Davao, Philippines after battling cancer.

Jeffrey was born on August 10, 1962 to Richard and Margaret (Kinard) Howe in St. Johns, Michigan. He married NorMary ”Marie” Loquinte on June 11, 2019 in Maco, Compostela Valley, Philippines.

Jeffrey graduated from St. Johns High school in 1980 and was part of the St. Johns H.S. 2016 Hall of Fame 1978-79 Varsity Swim Team inductees and held SJHS Track & Field school records in the high jump, high hurdle for over 40 years. Jeff liked the simple life and previously worked in the family business of Howe’s Greenhouse & Flower Shoppe for many years. His family was very important to him and his friends remember him for his good heart.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Marie; his children Jessica Argue and Connie (Johnathon) Feister of DeWitt; Kristine Peters of St. Johns, Audrey and Tyler Howe of Tagum, Davao, Philippines; grandchildren, Kenneth, Blake and Alexis Argue, Andie Margaret Robinson, Zachery Bitterman, Dyllan, Jayson, Markus and Alayna Peters, and Paige Welch; his father, Richard Howe; Siblings, Kim (Wayne) Sperry, Sally (Gerald) Pontius and Paul (Holly) Howe; Father and Mother-in-law , Jesus and Narissa V. Loquinte; brother-in-laws, Jesrie & Jayson Loquinte; sister-in-laws, Jan Neth and Jenalyn Loquinte, Mirasol L. (Warren) Saladaga, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Howe and sister, Connie Lynn Howe.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at St. Peter Fellowship Hall, 8990 Church Road, St. Johns where family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made in his name to Sally Pontius, 1611 W. Pratt Road, DeWitt, MI 48820 for his two young children’s Education Fund.

Ronald W. Koschmider
Shirley Jean Koschmider

Ronald W. Koschmider and Shirley Jean Koschmider, of DeWitt, Michigan, Ron passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the age of 79, and Shirley passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the age of 73.

Ronald was born on September 9, 1942 in Cadillac, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Ethel (Winans) Koschmider. Shirley was born on November 25, 1947 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the daughter of Kenneth and Donna (Noble) Holaday. They were married on January 19, 1964. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage prior to her passing.

Ronald worked for General Motors in Lansing, Michigan; he retired in 1995 after 33 years of service. Among his leisure time, Ron enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, and being a grandpa most of all.

Shirley worked for Sparrow Health System until her retirement in 2012. Among her leisure time, Shirley enjoyed wood painting, fishing, flowers, and being a grandma most of all.

They are survived by their children: Renae Cole of Bath, MI; and son Michael of St. Johns, MI; grandchildren: Trevor (Jennifer) Cole, Kristina and Katie all of Lansing, MI; Kyler and Blake of St. Johns, MI; four great-granddaughters. Shirley is also survived by her sisters: June Bainbridge of Grandview, MO; and Sharon (Kevin) Fisher of DeWitt, MI. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ray and Donna Walker, sisters: Barbara Mishler, Nancy (Robert) Peterson; brothers: Jerry, Jerome, Doug, Carl, Kenneth, and Edward; and one sister-in-law Trudy Koschmider. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Ray Walker, her grandparents, one sister Gail Scholten, one brother-in-law Gerald Bainbridge, and three nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at Riley Township Hall at a later date.

June C. Williams

June C. Williams, age 57, of St. Johns, died on November 26, 2021. She was born on June 11, 1964, the daughter of Gerald and Carol Desprez Pearson. She was a 1982 graduate of St. Johns High School.

She leaves her beloved husband, Leonard Williams; her sons, Ethan (Maria) and Brandon; granddaughter, Eleanor and many extended family members and dear friends.

A memorial will be held in the future.

Robert Guy Fifield, Jr.

Robert Guy “Bobby” Fifield, Jr.,age 77, of St. Johns, MI, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, Lansing, MI.

In following Bobby’s wishes, a cremation has taken place and a Memorial Luncheon will be held at Community Christian Church, 400 E. State St., St. Johns, MI, at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 4, 2021, with John Bond officiating.

Robert was born in St. Johns, Michigan on April 6, 1944, the son of Robert, Sr. and Hazel (Penix) Fifield. On May 22, 1971, Bobby married Caroline “Sue” Cooke in Owosso, MI. They were blessed with 38 years of marriage prior to her passing on November 25, 2009. Bobby worked at Midwest Abrasive in Owosso for many years. After Midwest closed, he worked for Lear until retirement.

Bobby lived a simple life. His family was very important to him. He enjoyed eating, fishing, and watching the Tigers and the Spartans. When he was able, he liked to spend time in Harrison.

Bobby is survived by a nephew, great niece, 2 great-nephews, caregiver/cousin Karen Falor, several other cousins, special friends: Paula Beck, and John and Kay Bond. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Fifield Schaefer, nephew Danny Schaefer, and special uncle Keith Penix.

Andrew Hatta

Andrew Hatta, age 88, age of Howell, Michigan formerly of Ovid, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Quality Care Of Howell, in Howell, Michigan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Ovid, Michigan, at 11:45 AM on Monday, November 29, 2021, with Rev. Fr. Anthony Brooks presiding. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 3-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes-Houghton Chapel, in Ovid, Michigan. Family Rosary service will be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Andrew was born in St. Johns, Michigan on March 31, 1933, the son of John and Martha (Pencak) Hatta. Andy graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School with the class of 1952. On November 23, 1957 he married Virginia Rose Surik in Owosso, Michigan. Virginia predeceased him on August 28, 2014. Andy served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.

Andy worked for Federal Mogul in St. Johns, Michigan retiring after 40 plus years of service. He was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame for football. He was one of founding members of Holy Family Catholic Church and was very active in his church. Andy was of member of the Knights of Columbus and an Ovid-Elsie Sports Booster and enjoyed listing to WOES Radio. He enjoyed working in his garden.

He is survived by his children: Eileen and John Brussolo of Ann Arbor, MI; Thomas and Michelle (Jeffreys) Hatta of Laingsburg, MI; Teresa and Robert Sutton of Northville, MI; five grandchildren: Alan Commet and Maia Brussolo, of Chicago, IL; McKenzie Hatta of Williamston, MI; Casey Sutton of Livonia, MI; Parker Sutton of Grandville, MI; two great-grandchildren: Alex and Liam Commet. He is also survived by his sister Anna Gardner of Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Virginia, 4 brothers: Michael, Peter, John, and Nicholas Hatta.
