Betty Jane Ebnit
Betty Jane Ebnit, age 90, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 6-8 P.M. and also on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Betty was born in St. Louis, Michigan, on December 6, 1931, the daughter of Addison Cornelius and Ethel Anne (Clare) Brundage. Betty married Walter Lee Ebnit on June 15, 1956, in St. Louis, Michigan. They were blessed with 48 years of marriage, prior to Walter’s passing on May 31, 2005.
Betty had a great zest for life. She was fun loving, kind and had a personality with a smile that will be missed by all who knew her. Betty enjoyed puzzles, sewing and spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of Redeemer United Methodist Church, DeWitt, MI where she also enjoyed her bible study and circle groups.
She is survived by her son Donald Ebnit of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter Susan Webster of St. Johns, MI; four grandchildren: Catherine Ebnit, Andrew McElfresh, Billy McElfresh, Cody and Madison Ebnit; five great-grandchildren; and one sister Kathleen and Leroy Weaver of Shepherd, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson Roy.

Fay L. Clark
Fay L. Clark, age 96, of St. Johns, Michigan, passed Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Grace Haven Assisted Living, St. Johns, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 3:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Fay was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 16, 1925, the daughter of Gordon and Grace (Hugo) Dryden. On March 24, 1945, she married Wilfred Clark in Detroit, Michigan; Wilfred passed away on September 8, 2013. Fay was a teacher’s aid at St. Johns public schools. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of St. Johns, Michigan, also was in the Red Hat Society. Fay volunteered at Clinton Memorial Hospital and St. Vincent DePaul.
She is survived by her daughter Linda and Robert Rudnik; two sons: William and Linda Jean Clark and Lawrence and Holly Clark; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her parents, one grandchild, one sister, and one brother.

Reginald Arthur Stevens
Reginald Arthur “Reggie” Stevens, age 95, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022, at his home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 with Rev. Keith Whipple officiating. Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Reginald was born in Greenbush Township, Michigan on December 29, 1926, the son of Arthur and Grace (Green) Stevens. He graduated from Rodney B. Wilson with the class of 1944. On April 19, 1975 Reginald married Janese I. Beebe at the Eureka Congregational Church.
Reggie and Janese wintered in Plant City Florida for 35 years. He loved woodworking projects, the Detroit Tigers and Michigan Football. Reggie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He attended the Eureka Christian Church where he also sang many solos. Reggie was a life long farmer and was a member of the Farmers Union and American Agriculture. He resided his entire life in Clinton County.
He is survived by his wife Janese Stevens, two sons: Jerry Stevens, and Larry and Tamie Stevens all of St. Johns, MI. He is also survived by his grandson Jacob (Autumn) Stevens, great grandsons: Dexton Stevens, Jacoby Stevens and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Ray Stevens, Myron Stevens; and four sisters: Gladys Sweet, Helen Fowler, Catherine Stevens, and Geraldine Halteman.

Harold Edward Woodliff
Harold “Woody” Edward Woodliff, of DeWitt, died peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer on September 3, 2022 with his beloved family and friends by his side.
Harold was born on March 20, 1942 in Albion, Michigan, the second of four children born to K. Gerald and Dorothy (Gilmore) Woodliff. Following graduation from Jonesville High School, Harold enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country in two Vietnam tours and in the National Guard for over thirty-five years. Later becoming a lifetime member of the DeWitt VFW Post 671. Following his return to the United States, Harold worked for Motor Wheel in Lansing for many years and later at Greater Lansing Auto Auction in Dimondale.
In 1989 at Greater Lansing Auto Auction, Harold met Rose Frechen and the couple married on November 30, 1990, where they enjoyed the blessings of a blended family. A longtime parishioner of The Catholic Community of St. Jude, Harold was an usher and a 4th Degree Knight. He liked to ride his motorcycle and feed the birds. He kept meticulous care of his lawn and landscaping and was a Michigan State sports fan.
Harold cherished time spent with his family and especially enjoyed time spent with his grandsons, Brandon, Dillon and Adam. A kid at heart, Harold’s grandsons gave him life and he took his role as Papa seriously. They knew they could count on Papa to support them at their sporting events, lend an ear when they needed someone to talk to or always available to give them a ride. He loved to challenge his grandsons and their friends in video games, boasting the handle “allmightypapa7”.
Most of all, Harold will be remembered for his fun-loving personality and selfless nature. His nonsense words and goofy personality will be forever missed. He always put others needs and happiness first. He was stoic and never complained, even when he was diagnosed with stage four cancer in May of 2022.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rose; her sons, Ed Frechen and Ken (Lynne) Frechen; his daughter, Tammy Lambert and her family; grandsons, Brandon, Dillon and Adam Frechen; brothers, Carl (Shirley) Woodliff and Kenneth Woodliff, as well as extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A Memorial Mass will be held at The Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N Bridge St, Dewitt, MI 48820 on Thursday September 8, at 11 AM. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday September 8, from 10 AM until the time of the service.

Marian Irene Kurncz
Marian Irene Kurncz, age 89, of St. Johns, Michigan, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, Michigan, on Monday, September 5, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, Michigan, on Sunday, September 4, 2022, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Marian was born in Maple Grove, MI, on December 22, 1932, the daughter of Julius and Loretta (Eickholt) Andres. She graduated from St. Michael’s High School, Maple Grove, Michigan with the class of 1951. On August 8, 1953 she married Peter Kurncz at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in New Lothrop, Michigan. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage prior to Peter’s passing on January 9, 2011.
Marian was the matriarch of the Kurncz family and was the backbone of Kurncz Dairy Farm. She was a leader in 4-H Program in Clinton County, Michigan. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns and sang in the church choir for many years. She served on the board of St. Johns Public Schools. Pete and Marian were the Grand Marshalls of the St. Johns Mint Festival.
She is survived by her children: Ann and Dan Connelly of Birmingham, MI; Gloria and Gary Barker of Gross Point Farms, MI; Michelle and Kevin Kent of Sanford, MI; son Pete and Sandy Kurncz of St. Johns, MI; eleven grandchildren: Miranda and Angel Garcia, Peter and Stacey Kurncz, Courtney Kurncz, Sean and Carolin Connelly, Ashley and Bryan Freeman, Collin Connelly, Robert and Alex Barker, Michael and Tori Barker, Noah Kent, Karley Kent, and Makayla Kent. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren: Bianca, Grant, Grady, Eva, Brody, Kooper, Miles, Quincy, Gavin, Addyson, Riley, Shayne, and Brayden, one sister Agnes May and one brother Bernie Andres. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and great-grandson Peter Kurncz IV, and two sisters: Milly Andres and Dorothy Koan.

Linda Marie Smith
Linda Marie Smith, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the age of 74.
A private family memorial is being planned.
Linda was born on June 1, 1948 the daughter of Benjamin T. Sykes, Jr. and Dorothy (Karnath) Sykes. She was a graduate of Portland St. Patrick High School and resided most of her life in Fowler.
Linda’s grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She spent her retirement years immersed in their company. She kept her inner circle tight, and she fiercely loved those within it. A kind-hearted woman, she would help anyone she could. She spent many years caring for others as a nurse’s aid and was loved by her patients. Her early employment years were with General Motors. She was an avid University of Michigan fan and a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Linda is survived by her children: Terri (Eric) Bolyard of St. Johns, MI; Jason (Cari) Smith of Fowler, MI; Stacey (Will Moser) Smith of Anchorage, AK; Scott Smith of St. Johns, MI; Mark Smith of St. Johns, MI; and Jeff Smith of Carson City, MI; her grandchildren, Madison Bolyard; Tristan, Quentin, and Kaedyn Smith; and Katlyn and Cody Smith; her great-grandchildren, Logan and Hayven Smith; one sister-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and her beloved dog, Bo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Smith; grandparents Benjamin and Della Sykes; parents-in-law Vincent and Loyola Smith: sisters: Carol Graft and Elizabeth Sykes; brother, Leon “Butch” Sykes; three brothers-in-law; her beloved dog, Duke; and her parents.

Marilyn A. Dzubinski
Marilyn A. Dzubinski, age 91, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022. She was born in St. Johns, Michigan on August 22, 1931. She resided in Lansing, MI where she and her husband of 70 years raised their family, and retired from the state of Michigan, Treasury Department. They moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1990 and resided there for 31 years. Marilyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Marilyn passed down her love of travel to her grandchildren, by taking each one on a different trip of a lifetime.
Survivors include son Dr. David Dzubinski (Chris); daughters, Renee Wuokko (Dale) and Diane Figg (Jeff), Brother Henry (Geri) Hansens. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Chester; daughter Katrina Lockwood; parents Fred and Mabel Hansens; brother Roscoe (Bob) Hansens; sisters: Dorothy Price and Naomi (Jo) Mallory.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2:00PM at Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel with Rev. Fr. Bob Bacik of St. Gerard Catholic Church presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on the day of the service.
